  1. Graves figured something out this last year. What, Im not sure of.
  2. Nestor cortes isn't a prospect. He isn't really anything. He just has been dominant at every level. To ask for him in a trade would just be dumb. He isn't "talented" he is just good. To trust his numbers you almost have to be Denbo. Someone who has seen him a few times. So you can put context to his numbers. If we take Cortes it would give me confidence in our organization. Im more curious about our second pick.
  3. Franmil Reyes and Nestor Cortes
  4. looking at the padres organization, I predict we will not be happy with the return. We will probably get Paddock back, and Margot, and then a bunch of guys who are either 18 years old or striking out 10/9 in A+. In either case the only team that would really like said players would be us.
  5. Sierra Is 21!!!!! Marcell didn't play in a big league game till he was 22. Sierra is an unfinished product. I think with the right tweaks he can be a top player.
  6. Gleybar Torres was not who he is today when they traded him to the yankees. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/evaluating-the-2016-prospects-chicago-cubs/
  7. You guys don't like this deal? Gallen is a diamond in the rough. Mags learns to hit for some power he is a good centerfielder. Sandy the front office loves, so Im going to give them the benefit of the doubt. And then you have this 23 year old who in A- clearly nobody thinks highly of him. But he seems to be doing something right. I think this is a good return. 1 guy who is probably a 5 in a rotation. 1 guy with a high ceiling. A defensive 21 year old who right now is a fine center fielder (he is 21 he might get better with the bat). And then a wild card. Im pretty happy with this deal.
  8. Is it bad I want sierra to start in AAA? Give him some at bats and learn to have a better approach at the plate. He is still 21
  9. I looked on twitter. Where do you see that?
  10. RULE 5 BABY!
  11. Calm down you two. They weren't overpaid. They just weren't going to win. We SHOULD compete by 2021 with a new tv deal in place. I wanna see what we get back here. and what we get in the rule 5 draft.
  12. or (I'm going out on a limb here) Hill and Jeter genuinely believe these are good moves. And Denbo (the all knowing scout) agrees with these moves. They believe they have a financial crisis and an organizational crisis and the best way to remedy these problems is to trade all older players for prospects. And they could care less what the rest of the league does until they are in a position to win for a long time.
  13. if we are going for a 55 win team. sell realmuto too. Sell Everybody. And lets do 1998 over again.
  14. Mike Ford too
  15. Why are we still upset about this. Stanton is no longer here. We dumped his salary because we couldn't afford to pay him at all. We have a team that is 400 million dollars in debt. We have a guy who clearly knows something about prospects considering he was a major part in building the Yankees farm syster (Denbo). We have a lot to be happy about. We just dumped a lot of salary. We need to think about the team as shooting to be competitive by 2020 when they sign a new tv deal. A deal worth something. While we wait we need to build a farm, and we need the organization to put itself into a position to make money. To win in baseball you need to spend right around the mean salary for MLB
  16. Can anyone find any information about what either team is offering in terms of prospects?
  17. I was looking at what the giants sites think we will get for Stanton. And I think this is a reasonable perspective on the trade. Take a look, maybe someone can identify who else in there org we might like. https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2017/12/1/16725378/sf-giants-giancarlo-stanton-trade-rumors-until-the-heat-death-of-the-sun
  18. oh....Shoot. Yeah. trade everybody. We are not gonna have a pitching staff that can support a major league competitive squad next year. We NEED to move ozuna
  19. Why are we all up in arms about this! We should be thankful Stanton had the year he did, had he not we wouldn't even be able to dump the salary for prospects. We should have blown up the team last year. We aren't an aggressive enough organization to do anything clever with our sad pitching staff. We don't have any kids that are going to replace them and make us at least acceptable. Personally I relish the idea of having a farm and maybe grabbing some projects and having a rebuilding year. If come april we have a bunch of kids starting with volquez as our only veteran, and a farm with lots of guys who are intriguing as really major league talent. I'd be ecstatic. For me that would mean Jeter knows exactly what has to be done. It would be a positive sign of things to come. Remember Loria forced some bad trades in his time. Lets see if Jeter can force some good trades.
  20. No. I do not want to trade Stanton to the giants. The giants best prospects are as good as the worst prospects the cardinals can offer us. The money is better but in terms of winning, and hell in terms of money for Stanton San Fran is a terrible place to talk to. They have no prospects. Arroyo? maybe? Maybe?
  21. I think you are missing something extremely important here. We aren't going to win if we do nothing. Our farm is a sad, no talent wasteland. This means that when one of our "proven stars" gets hurt we replace them with a guy who doesn't belong in triple-a much less the majors. If we have a rebuild. Do it with the underlining theory that good development in single a breeds good players in the major leagues. Apply a combination of modern analytics and old scouting to identifying players to fill our rosters at every level. I think even if we trade everyone we will be as much fun to watch as the team we were last year. The difference is we will be in a direction to be actually good. A team that will win games. Something worth watching. I don't know about you, but watching an 80 win team is the worst. Especially an 80 win team that has no prospects to give them a shot at being better.
  22. why hasnt nicasio become a marlin???
  23. What I meant was he doesn't have to be great. He just has to be better than Nicolino.
  24. Bring up Meyer! give him a start. What do we have to lose?
  25. I wanted a discussion option on the last thread. I think messed up how I created it. Anyways, September is coming. Our offense has holes. Our pitching is one big hole. Who should get the call?
