  1. Why are we trying to trade Eovaldi? He has the highest potential in a lot of our arms right now. Why don't we trade Tom Koehler? Koehler is a significantly worse player than Eovaldi and we would still be able to get fair return for him.
  2. There are a lot of question marks right now in our organization. If Tom Koehler is in our starting rotation next season and we trade Eovaldi, we have failed. Haren is a high risk if he pitches for us. Latos is a risk because he hasn't been good lately. We have a lot of possibilities going forward. It depends on what we do about first base and what we do about our rotation. I think the biggest thing that I am curious about is if Dee can continue to steal bags. His BABIP defines his value. If he is able to consistently get on the base paths and continue to steal bags above 75% percent he will become an extremely important part of our lineup. If he doesn't do those things we will have lost big.
  3. the dodgers just paid 40 million dollars plus the performance of gordon and haren for howie kendrick and 3 minor leaguers. the marlins could have made the same trade and only spent 27.5 mil.
  4. so what this shows is money is power sometimes. we need to take risks to succeed.
  5. They can't/won't trade Nicolino, he's Heaney's replacement as our next major league ready starter. Nicolino is an unproven starter. He has to start striking people out to be worth his value, The key to that is he has to do it while at the same time continue to not walk people.
  6. You call him a "genius," however he has resources that the Marlins simply don't. Friedman was able to dangle $10 million in order to get the deal done. The Marlins FO doesnt have that luxury. But the entire idea of working from no money is to hold your cheap assets until they become valuable ones. then sell them for lots of other guys who can eventually become more cheap assets. By trading these four guys for dee gordon and haren you have gone against the entire mantra of being a poor GM. buy low sell high.
  7. so what has to happen for him to keep that inflated BABIP? he is fast so is it unreasonable?
  8. Heaney's floor is last season. No guarantee he ever becomes a regular starter. Better prospects have flamed out. Kike's floor could be he never cuts it as a major leaguer. I don't like this trade but you can't say Kike's floor is Infante and then say Gordon is a 1-2 war second basemen. Kike's floor is between 0.5-3 depending on his defensive metrics year to year. He probable won't be a great hitter but will be just good enough. I think I can say with certainty he could be a major leaguer.
  9. How projectable is Dee Gordons BABIP and his ability to steal bags?
  10. Just yesterday you all were botching about our 2B being Solano, Hernandez or Dietrich. Now it won't be. Celebrate We gave up 4 players all 4 of them useful. for 1 guy. and that guy is no sure thing.
  11. Did we just trade a number 3 starter(Heaney's floor) a omar infante type utility player ( Kike's floor) a solid reliever (Hatcher) and a bench player(barnes' floor) for a 1-2 war second baseman(Dee's floor) and a pitcher who will retire?
  12. I'm a little sick of Billy Beanes shit. His shipping off of Cespedes Donaldson and Moss the last few months is the kind of stuff that people would lynch the Marlins for doing, yet Beane is still apparently Gods gift to baseball. I know the guy has a solid track record but it's a bit unfair at times. He has a track record of success. The marlins don't have that track record. If we were able to quickly be competitive every time we traded our team. No one would pick on us too.
  13. Who in there right mind wants Craig or Middlebrooks. If the marlins give up that much I want Boegarts at the very least. I want lavarnway too. Actually I just want those two guys and I think I can get both for the price of conley and heaney(or nicolino) and Brice(or Suggs).
  14. don't feel like we have to make a move. If you feel like you have to make a move you are going to make a bad deal.
  15. That's what I mean. Koehler was good last year, but he was barely a passable #5 in 2013. Which is going to show up next year? He always seemed to do better the second year in a league. I think last year is more resembles who he will be. Now just a suggestion stanton is signed. Could we trade Mcgehee? He was comeback player of the year last year. I am sure someone would give us something of value for him.
  16. trumbo for flynn and an 18 year old not taken in the first 4 rounds I would be okay with. That is no risk from us and another potential bat to write into first base. Not a sure thing but gives us three high risk options Bour, Jones, and Trumbo between that i think there is a league average to above average(with some luck) first basemen. So yeah, lets do it.
  17. both options suck. High strikeouts poor defense no average might as well call up philly and give them flynn or conley for howard and cash.
  18. the problem with prediction's like this is it is very difficult to make good assessments on ability based on one or two years of work in the majors. Guy's like Hech, Eovaldi, Bour, Yelich, Ozuna, basically the majority of the team have not had the time in the majors enough to say for certain what they will become. This is especially true for guys like Dietrich and Kike. I think we could be better than this post predicts with just the general lineup. Now with the same thought we could be worse because the league would have time to adjust to these players as well. It is one of the reasons predicting the marlins is almost and impossible task.
  19. its a team friendly deal attached to a player friendly open market deal. the concern is the open market deal. 7/218 for a 31 year old. On the other hand 6/107 is unbelievable for this guy. I don't think he will walk away from it.
  20. okay since the braves seem to be clearing salary and trading one of the best RFs and RPs in the league for basically tom koehler, let's give them heaney for tehearan or something. Lets see if we can get tehearan for koehler and desclafani.

Honestly, the cubs might be willing to give something significant for Eovaldi. He has really good peripherals his actual numbers are where his problems are. Looking at what the cubs have done recently they might give us someone we could use immediately.

I still think Hernandez will solidify the position. His offense will be spotty but with the boost in BABIP from the ballpark I think he has the potential to be a very positive player for us. If Dietrich could also get that boost from the park we could potentially have two fairly solid offensive second baseman.
  23. So this is going to sound crazy, but lets be real what on this site doesn't sound at least a little bit on the edge of sanity. How about we trade our gold glove finalist short stop and one of our almost good pitchers for a third baseman and make kike hernandez our every day shortstop.
  24. Sabathia sucked last year. He may never be good again. I don't really understand how you guys see him as equal to tulo or cargo?
  25. That's actually a pretty good idea. It wouldn't take much to get him, but the more we give the more cash they'll eat. I think if you give them Eovaldi they'll eat half the contract, gives both teams a high upside risk but the Marlins get the lefty and veteran they seek and the Yankees get the much needed youth and potential they need. I'd be all for a deal like that in lieu of a high-priced FA like Lester. EOVALDI might actually be great. koehler and conley will both be alright. sabathia might suck. like be really really bad. Its only a good option if we can lose expendable pieces.
