  1. I'd have to think the Marlins will reinvest the money they got off the books in the Hanley/Anibal trades this offseason. you'd have to be naive to think that. Samson said they'd cut payroll if attendance was less than expected, and attendance was less than expected. I want to see where he said that. Its from the Passan article, Passan suggests Samson said this but never quoted him. What Samson said before the season was this "We've always said payroll is going up when our revenue is going up. We expect higher revenue. We never had suite revenue. We never had people in the ballpark. We never had concession revenue. We never had any of these things. Our whole model, our revenue model, our expense model is different. With the additional money we have to spend, we're giving it to players." In other words they will cut payroll if attendance is low.
  2. so now Lomo's goat is gaby. 1st it was eduardo, now its gabby. then its his knee. MAYBE HE SUCKS AND "PROSPECT" IS A BS TERM USED BY SCOUT GEEKS. Maybe you're a troll. And our beloved Lomo is not.

  4. i cant remember one time the tommy and rich disagreed with the FO. they disagree with on the field stuff all the time. it wasnt until the past few years that tommy even started "venting".
  5. gorkys hernandez reminds me of corky sosa
  6. Zaslow in the morning, 790 the Ticket, has continuously repeated it's not a fire sale and he's liked the trades we've made uhhh 790 is the marlins channel, of course they like the trades. if ticket prices were raised suddenly now, they would say it is justified.
  7. It doesnt matter, fans will continue being happy eating there hot dogs. Ownership will be happy eating there spotted dick.
  8. Ozzie was fukd up for not letting LeBlanc finish the 5th, but it understandable as they need to get big Z some wins and lower his era so they can trade him sometime.
  9. There are a few things that I would like to see change from now until the end of the season to make it a little more enjoyable to watch. 1) Move Ricky Nolasco to the bullpen. He might be a good late inning guy. He's always had decent stuff. Not only might he be good at it, he might increase his trade value. Teams get desperate for effective relievers. 2) Let Donovan Solano play third base. I know he's not the answer for our long term solution but he might produce enough to be a regular bench player for us and a suitable stop gap for Cox or whomever else we try to get. Either way I don't want to see Donnie Bleeping Murphy take away at bats from Solano. We know what Murphy can or better said can't do. 3)Bring up Jacob Turner already. I want to see him and Eovaldi pitch as much as I can this season. I want them ready for next year. I would also love to see Brad Hand pitch at some point this season but I realize that we need to see what Wade Leblanc can do in our rotation first. Although I think Leblanc is better suited as a swing man out of our bullpen. 4)Move Yelich to AA. Why wait any longer? Speed up his ascent to the big leagues. Harper and Trout are already in the bigs and they aren't much older. Yelich has not struggled at any minor league stop along the way. He's ready for AA. 5) Promote Brantly as soon as possible to the MLB roster. Watching Buck and or Hayes is really frustrating. Buck will just have to be an expensive back up for one season. 6)Promote AJ Ramos to the big league roster. Feel free to post your ideas or thoughts. I agree with said points. If we're playing for the future might as well let some younger guys get there chance.
  10. It doesnt matter, we have our Savior Lo-Mo to save our team next year. Lo-Mo 4 MVP!!
  11. So because the team doesn't win, that means the organization hasn't won a single trade? Cue Herm Edwards
  12. these "win" trades should have made the team better ... that's technically what they should have done if we "won" those trades. well I haven't seen any "winning" from these "win" trades in the last few years Its just people sticking up for their "team". I support the players as a team, but to support management dumping players in support of their "team" is rediculous. Also notice the Cabrera/Willis trade wasnt mentioned.
  13. "Forward thinking" Stadium designer---> Loria and Co. (why build a cheap stadium when I can get an expensive one for nothing) Construction--->Tax payer Maintenence and electricity--->Tax Payer Revenue from tickets/concessions-->Loria and Co. ***Capitalism*** All the Fidel haters out there support this.
  14. As a ML player, why in the world would you block a trade to the Yankees and get a chance to go to the playoffs when you know you'll be placed on waivers anyway? Doesn't make any sense to me. No ranches in New York.
  15. joe borchard, reggie abercrombie (and his legendary 500 ft homerun i will never forget, todd hollandsworth
  16. Rehab him and get that knee fixed up idgaf why they played him injured, huge mistake. if he has a good spring, start him at 1st base. if he sucks in spring then let someone else give 1st base a shot next yr. if hes not hitting hes not doing anything since he sucks at everything else.
  17. To this day I still have no idea why we ever got rid of Jim Presley. Look at all the players he helped develop. Cabrera, Hanley, Uggla, Jacobs, Cantu, Baker, Ross, Cogs (when he was rookie of year), Gaby (when he was decent)..... Lack of hitting was not the problem during those years.
  18. Well, lets all give it up for our most successful ball club. Our major league team sucks and our AAA and AA farm is weak, but at least our A affiliate is 61-43, managed by Dave Berg. Anyone heard of Brent Keys. He plays outfield for them with .351 avg, .421 obp, 16 steals, and only 4 gidp in 329 PA. He also has 8 outfield assists in center field in 73 games. Any chance he moves up to AA or AAA soon and get a chance at the big leagues sometime next year? Discuss. http://www.baseball-...cgi?id=25a2dcfe

  22. Wut What im saying is that if we are going to go cheap again, we shouldnt go after "prospects" with "high ceilings" who are just big players. we should go after players that hustle everyday because those types of players deserve major league positions, not "potential" players who some ignorant scout had a crush on and felt could become babe ruth.I hustle. You want me playing over someone with real talent? If you can hit above .230 and you hustle and play good defense (or at least makes effort to play good defense) then yes, i would think you are more qualified than someone else hitting .230 (who someone else says has "potential" to hit .300) but doesnt hustle.

  24. Fan since day one, I still have the newspaper announcing MLB's decision to give Miami a team! By luck I was at JRS the day they started the construction to make it baseball usable. Lots of good times through the years, the inaugural season, the 96 season where they almost finished .500 of course the building of the 97 Champions. Sadly the dismantling of that team too, different ownership, but it stung. Probably most proud of the 03 team when they won because I felt so vindicated in my support of the team, friends and acquaintences were also impressed with my ability to stick with the team. Through the years this team has ripped out my heart by trading some of my favorite players, I took Louis Castillo and Cliff Floyd pretty hard, similar feelings this week with Hanley, even if he wasn't the player he had been. I know its not a fire sale, but it kind of feels like one, sadly without the championship that usually goes with it. I will continue rooting for the team, because they are my team! Im most upset about them dumping eric owens. this team from top to bottom besides reyes, big z, ruggiano just aint got that hustle. when we sucked all those years in the late 90s/early 2000s we hustled. everybody hustled. now we got a bunch of self-entitled slow primmadonnas. im not talking hanley, im talking the players that got rid of hanley and they themselves suck as well and dont hustle. wheres the "everyday every game all heart". i remember when we sucked they use to run this commercial with some bummed out fans watching at a bar and its playing "you gotta have hope, you gotta have hope, cuz without hope life is meaningless..." and then they show a walkoff marlins when they had the black sleaves on the pinstripes. the fish tank seats were $2 behind home plate at the very top. when we won we "the marlins are in the WIN COLUMN!!" now we got rich players who aint got no heart or hope. #CUT HEATH BELL
  25. I dont know why we are trading Z, he'd be serviceable as a pinch hitter/1st baseman considering we cant hit. better than Lomo at hitting
