March 12, 200422 yr http://www.ajc.com/friday/content/epaper/e...4ca1320026.html I gotta quote the part about the Marlins, man everyone has the WRONG impression about our team. I had no idea how clueless some people truly are about baseball... The Florida Marlins won the World Series last season as a wild-card entry, but they did so with a heavy dose of magic. They also had Pudge Rodriguez, Derrek Lee, Juan Encarnacion, Ugueth Urbina and Mark Redman. They're all gone, and so are the Marlins as a huge threat.
March 12, 200422 yr Thats pretty big talk coming from a team that only won 1 championship in almost 10 years of constantly being in the big show. Besides who are they trying to kid? They lost Maddux, Sheffield, and Javy Lopez. They aren't exactly going to be setting the world on fire. :lol
March 12, 200422 yr I am planning on going to ATL this summer to visit my sister and I am going to be walking around with my Marlins championship shirt nice and proud!!!
March 12, 200422 yr :thumbup the bravos need to stop the talk and perfrom on the feild. which the dont do that well
March 12, 200422 yr Must really tick them off that in the five trys that they had at winning the World Series, while the Marlins have now won two in almost the same amount of time and they are only an 11 year old team! :lol I love it! :thumbup
March 12, 200422 yr We're no longer a big threat to THEM? Umm... I think it's the other way around...
March 12, 200422 yr This year's team may have actually improved in a few positions...Cabrera and Conine for a full year over Hollandsworth and Encarnacion Castro may actually put up better offensive numbers than pudge did and our pitching is much better with the experience they got. Not to mention our bench is wayyyy better this year.
March 12, 200422 yr So funny how everyone discounts the marlins. It is kind of sad if that writer actually believes that. I felt like I was reading an article about a huge hometown fan that is less than 15 years old.
March 13, 200422 yr Today, the Braves will travel to Clearwater to face the mighty Philadelphia Phillies, flying so high among the clouds that they can touch the sun beaming off the nearby bay. You may yawn now. The Phillies are "mighty," but only if you are influenced by hype. Two words: Admin Bowa. As long as the Phillies have the manager most likely to be shoved out of a team charter by his players, all of that other stuff doesn't matter. The improved pitching. The enthusiasm from a new ballpark. The return of eight regulars from last year's potentially strong lineup. The health, the glove and the bat of David Bell. Oh yeah, well all that HYPE beat the almighty Braves 4-1 today. :notworthy
March 13, 200422 yr The Braves lost Glavine, Maddux, Sheffield & Lopez...that's gonna be a difference. Losing Mark Redman may have made us better
March 13, 200422 yr Actually, it's funny because whenever I go to Turner Field to see the Marlins against the Braves, the Marlins always win. So BAH to the Journal! Anyway, they better get ready for us in September because I am thinking of being there for that weekend the Fish are playing @ TF.
March 13, 200422 yr Flamarlins3 Posted on Mar 12 2004, 4:31 PM So funny how everyone discounts the marlins. It is kind of sad if that writer actually believes that. I felt like I was reading an article about a huge hometown fan that is less than 15 years old. "You know, that's what ticks me off. Nobody gives us any credit for being a good team. It's always curses and billy goats. That's what makes me mad. It always has to be about the other team, and what they did wrong. It's never about what we did.? ? Josh Beckett, Marlins pitcher True.
March 13, 200422 yr Frankly the Phillies scare me a lot more the Braves. This WILL be the year the Braves streak ends. Who know what the Mets and Expos will do, but I would really be happy if they could finish ahead of the Braves and stick them into the cellar.
