Hialeah Stadium Site?

Featured Replies

What are your views for a new site in Hialeah?

I feel that Hialeah is the perfect place for the new stadium if the Miami deals fails.

What are your views?

Hialeah Park has four things going for it:

1) Hialeah has the money.

2) It has plenty of parking, space, and has handled over 100,000 there at one time in the past with a worse infrastructure.

3) In 2000, Hialeah voters approved a Marlins Ballpark being funded in Hialeah by the city.

4) MetroRail is nearby the Park.

Three things going against it:

1) It isn't Miami

2) Hialeah Politics "La ciudad que nunca progressa"

3) Only major roads are US 27 and the 826 and the area roads need work. (work will be done by 2007)

one word...awful

almost worse than the OB

why? Because their traffic situation is worse than the OB. Besides Hialeah is not an area I would like to be in at night, especially at the times the Marlins games would end...

I third Marlins2003's opinion...

I third Marlins2003's opinion... So you would rather be in Downtown Miami or Little Havana rather than in Hialeah around 10 PM at night?

Are you out of your mind, my grandaunt lives in Hialeah and she has for the past how many years and never has she been mugged, broken into, or had anything stolen.

I can't say the same for Downtown or Little Havana

Hialeah is like west miami, and in fact it is closer for more people in dade than pro player is. If that would be the easiest place to build the stadium I say go for it.

Hialeah sounds good to me. It's a central location for all of Miami Dade county with metrorail access. With the newcoming metrorail stations which will spread all over dade county, a majority of fans will be able to take the train into the ballpark. The new station off of the palmetto and the future station next to PPS (off of the turnpike for those fans coming from up north like me) will allow fans to remotely park away from the ballpark and thus avoid the usual traffic coming to and from a stadium. Moreover, the countless hispanics in the area would flood the stadium for six bucks to sit in the upper deck to watch baseball.

I third Marlins2003's opinion... Are you saying Hialeah has a huge problem with crime or just the traffic?

You also have to take in account that the area around the stadium would be cleaned up and different bars and restrants would probably open up. If would probably be like Yankee Stadium in the bronx. You wouldnt want to be there at night, but the area around the stadium is nice. Plus when there are alot of people it will be safe.

Hialeah is not a bad area folks. It is safe. Hispanics are huge baseball fans that will add to the success of a Hialeah stadium. Hialeah is not dangerous! Give me a break! :lol

Hialeah is safe at night, esp. around Palm Ave. and the Racetrack.

If grandmas can walk there at night and be safe now, why when the park is there would you not be safe?

You guys obviously dont know that much about the Hialeah area. Crime isnt that big of a problem as it is in Downtown Miami or Little Havana.

Now traffic... is a different story.

Mostly traffic, it's just impossible to get to from any direction at the time most baseball games are played. 79th from 95 is horrendous, 826 (the Palmetto) is as everyone knows just impossible, its a deathtrap and from the south what are you going to do, come up Ponce from 836 and nightmare? People just won't go.

And this idea that families are going to take public transit to the game is rediculous. John and Mary Baseball just aren't going drop their car ten miles away after driving down from Broward or PBC and take a train to Hialeah. Give me a break!

Coming from Broward or Palm Beach to a night game at Hialeah Park won't be bad if you take US 27 or I-75/Palmetto southbound. It would be the same argument made as if going to Downtown or Little Havana.

Hialeah is halfway between PPS and Downtown/Little Havana.

Hialeah is not a bad area folks. People give it a bad rap b/c of the low income Latin population there. Being latin, i know anglos are very biased towards hialeah but they have nothing to worry about b/c its pretty safe. Downtown Miami is 10x's worst. You have bums asking for money and what not.

what are they talking about? hank said only $4.5 million a year on rent times that by 30 years and that's $135 million.
