March 15, 200422 yr Hialeah is a great place for a stadium in 2007 since contruction to fix and widen roads will be done by then. Does anyone now why the Marlins arent interested in the old racetrack?
March 15, 200422 yr If you think Hialeah is dangerous, you must live in a bubble. :lol You got that right.
March 15, 200422 yr I have been living in Hialeah for 22 years. I have never been robbed or mugged so far. I have walked from my church down the street to my house at 10:30 at night. Gimme a break, man! Traffic is horrible indeed and for games it will be hell on earth. Thank God for the Metro Rail.
March 15, 200422 yr I live about 5 minutes from hialeah park,i'll be very satisfied with a stadium there,i would also like to consider miami lake's,i haven't observed this so good, but does anyone know if that lot in front of main street has enough space?
March 15, 200422 yr The lot in front of Main Street is too small. They're using it to build stuff already. They already opened a resturant there.
March 15, 200422 yr I have never been robbed or mugged so far. I've gotten robbed riding my bike in the street, maybe i just don't have good luck with bike's(i've fell of them, gotten my bike's robbed twice),lol...

March 15, 200422 yr You guys obviously dont know that much about the Hialeah area. Crime isnt that big of a problem as it is in Downtown Miami or Little Havana. Now traffic... is a different story. Lots of misperceptions about Hialeah. Yes, it is ugly (no offense to Hialeah residents who might read this), but it is safe, actually quite a bit safer than city of Miami if I recall some crime statistics from a couple of years ago. The mayor can be a real jerk, but he produces results for the city and the residents love him. Traffic and highway access is the biggest problem. From the west it isn't too bad (Turnpike, Palmetto, Okeechobee Road and west 21st street aren't bad options). From the east it is awful (far from I-95 and a drive through a bad neighborhood outside of Hialeah to get there). Metrorail is by far the best bet with a station nearby. Hialeah Park is just as close to Southwest Broward as it is to Kendall. That's a good thing IMO. I vote yes for Hialeah, but I would feel better if highway access was to be improved.
March 15, 200422 yr Yea but all that stuff happens everywhere. Hello, in Downtown while I am at school, some stupid bum yells inappropriate things at me from time to time. Once in Government Center, some thuggish guy grabbed my arm trying to take me with him!! Here in Hialeah, it's not like that at all, at least not from what I have seen.
March 15, 200422 yr the palmetto is a NIGHTMARE already, at nearly any time of the day. any stadium plan that needs the Palmetto for access is insane! .... & i think you can pretty much count on there being a metrorail stop wherever the stadium is. not gonna happen gang.
March 15, 200422 yr I take the Palmetto going south every day and it is HELL!! But that's pretty much after 103rd. Sometimes it's jammed up from up north. Going Palmetto North can be a nightmare too. I blame it on the construction that is going on. I don't know how long that is supposed to last.

Yes the Palmetto is terrible, didn't say it was the best option, but it IS there and not far from the park. Metrorail is the best way to get there, whether enough people would be willing to give up their cars to hop on it is another story.

I still wouldn't want to be in the area at night, just like I don't like Pro Player at night. the Orange Bowl isn't that bad, crime isn't too high in Little Havana and Downtown Miami is only bad if you wander towards Flagler and the Overtown...

March 15, 200422 yr Cape , I just called him and he told me I was smoking something. I hope they do end up building it there so I can call back and tell him that I might be smoking something but he's on heroine.

I am telling you, I llok for crime and safety all the time and Hialeah is safe. I have felt safer in Hialeah at night than I have in Kendall sometimes. Hialeah is safe. Roads are the big problem, but the OB and Downtown also have issues with access.

I said I wouldn't want to be in that area at night, that doesn't mean its crime filled. :banghead
March 15, 200422 yr What is your concern then? Traffic, what time I will finally make it out of there, and the like. I am more concerned with crime at PPS than in Hialeah but I still don't care for the area...
March 15, 200422 yr But what if it was the best realistic option? It is a situation that could be made better.
March 15, 200422 yr But what if it was the best realistic option? It is a situation that could be made better. I would go and if it was the best realistic option then I'd say yes. But I would rather have the OB site more than the Hialeah site...

But I would rather have the OB site more than the Hialeah site... But if you look, the OB site doesn't have as much parking as Hialeah Park. Traffic access at the OB isn't much better and there is no MetroRail.
March 15, 200422 yr Cape, remember back when members of this site asked us to e-mail politicians to get something rolling back in December. Who should we flood with e-mails to get this Hialeah site considered? I know Peneles grew up in Hialeah , so he has some Hialeah ties.
