April 21, 200422 yr Dude, I don't care if the stadium is in freaking Alapattah! Just give us damn stadium in SOUTH FLORIDA where the Marlins belong!
April 21, 200422 yr It sickens me, we have some of the worst fans. Everyone is alwys so goddamn negative around here, taking any chance they get to make a negtive comment, you know if you give people the benefit of the doubt they will surprise you sometimes. Loria has done nothing but GOOD things for this franchise I am not ready to loose faith on him and the FO yet. If this is the deal they are taking then I assume they will do it right and will turn that area intoa fan friendly place, I HOPE, I am sure they will figure out the parking and access siutation befoer the place opens. I am sure they will take all that into account. I really am happy to know we may be able to keep our team in Miami. For those of you that disLIKE Miami because you live in PBC or wherever, shove-it up your ARSE....

It is not because they are bad fans. It is because they realize how much better it "could" be elsewhere.
April 21, 200422 yr take a pill. everyone here wants the best for the marlins. we just want to make sure they get the RIGHT deal. not the ONLY deal. when john henry bought the team from wayne, he signed what he probably thought was the ONLY deal available to him, & look how that one turned out. nwo reading that a retractable roof is still a go is a piece of very good news. "Movement has been made to secure more local funding, and for the first time Samson announced the probable site. An announcement on the local part of the deal could come as early as Monday. "We're not just close, we're done," Samson said, referring to finalizing local funding." more local funding? is he talking about securing the 173 from Miami or is this new money? this may be a necessity if they don't get the state money.

The only problem is that I don't see where are the other deals. . .
April 21, 200422 yr This may be encouraging news (especially if you like the fact that the Marlins are now going to choose the very last best option near the OB) but a reality check for a sec.... Samson's word is hardly his bond. He's fumbled the stadium issue so many times its not even funny. Just a word to the wise. When Loria or someone else who actually has some grey matter between their ears comes out and tells me the stadium is close, then I'll start listening. If it is in fact near the OB the Marlins are kissing theri sister. Yeah, they'll get a new facility, but after the novelty wears off you aren't going to get tee-tee for fans out of North Broward and PBC to come down.
April 21, 200422 yr Yeah right. And NO ONE goes to Cub games at Wrigley either for the same reasons. Please.
April 21, 200422 yr but after the novelty wears off you aren't going to get tee-tee for fans out of North Broward and PBC to come down. I agree with this, but I think the MArlins are counting on replacing a portion of the fans that goes to the games (note: I didn't say fan base) with those close to downtown or OB site.
April 21, 200422 yr Build it and they will come. And I agree - stop being so damn negative! For what? Beggars cant be choosers and Henry picked the only deal because that was probably the BEST deal. What was his alternative?!!
April 21, 200422 yr Yeah right. And NO ONE goes to Cub games at Wrigley either for the same reasons. Please. You just compared the Marlins and Cubs fans?? Seriously JL, come on now.
April 21, 200422 yr i hope if they build the stadium at the orange bowl the marlins ask for a complete redesign in the stadium that on that was presented in jan sucks.

April 21, 200422 yr Does anyone have information on exactly where the new stadium would be located. I find it interesting that Sampson describes the location as "near" the OB site, not "on" the OB site. There appears to be a nice piece of vacant land just to the NNW of the stadium on the river. I wonder if there is any chance this could be the spot.
April 21, 200422 yr I have a feeling it may be the one the county presented them with. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
