djm305
The Marlins are 20-1 when leading after seven innings
fanofthefish
What's their record when leading after 9 innings? Just kidding
Wild Card
Our set-up has been decent, and obviously Benitez literally been better than anyone else in baseball out of the pen. If we're leading after the 7th, watch out.
Craig
and obviously Benitez literally been better than anyone else in baseball out of the pen. SEE: Gagne, Eric........ But other than him you are right about Mando, he has been lights out, and would be perfect in saves if not for that lousy throw to 1st and a bloop single with 2 outs. In my mind (because I don't consider that game a blown save), he's been every bit and maybe more than Gagne this year.
Das Texan
and thats not a blown save because?
Fishin2004
so the only game we've won when we were tied or trailing in the 8th or 9th was the Astros game where Ausmus blew the play at the plate? wow....
PBMarlin
You can attribute alot of that to Jack knowing when to change pitchers. Whenever one guy has struggled in the 8th, he is quick to find a match-up that gets us out of trouble. Of course Benitez has been lights out.....it is the 8th that has been more worrisome....and Jack has handled it very well.

LOL....Boy talkabout a negative view on things. Maybe that's cause we have scored early this year and not left it for the END of the game. Granted a few more late inning comebacks would be nice.... But again, you can't win em all.. I'd rather have a lead early and put it away after the 7th rather than never having the lead and having to get runs in the last inning. It's more of a tribute to starting pitching, there is no doubt this is the quality of our team this year, we rely on starting pitching and our closer to win games. We only hope we don;t need to dip into the BULLPEN early.
Admin
You seem to both forget Lowell's homerun off Wagner in the 9th inning trailing by 1 in Philly.
miami15
and thats not a blown save because? Yeah why not? Thats a silly thing to say.
Wild Card
and thats not a blown save because? Because Mando got it done on the mound that night. He's paid to pitch, and he did that. He just threw away an easy out on an error.
Admin
He blew the save, like it or not. HE threw that ball away.
miami15
He blew the save, like it or not. HE threw that ball away. Exactly. He gets paid to close games not just to pitch. He's gotta make the play. Not to take away from Mando, but Gange has been phenomenal.

FreshFish
check the stats, Mando has pitched better so far. Is he better than Gagne? I don't know, let's see what happens at the end of the season. One thing I know, Mando was a steal at 3.
Beinfest4Prez
As of right now Mando leads the rolaids relief by four points to Gagne. Just thought you would like to know who has been the best of the two to date.
Shaq-Man
The Marlins are 20-1 when leading after seven innings that's an interesting stat. looking at the glass as half empty though, it also means that if we're tied or down after 7 innings, our record is 1-15. that's also a pretty surprising stat. Prime Time
I don't like that stat. Because who says we will lead coming into the 7th inning in the majority of the remainder of our games. I mean look at a lot of other teams winning percentage after leading 7 innings, I bet you will find some similar results.
Admin
looking at the glass as half empty though, it also means that if we're tied or down after 7 innings, our record is 1-15. How is that possible when I can personally recall 2 instances where we were tied or down after 7 and won?

Hugg
You seem to both forget Lowell's homerun off Wagner in the 9th inning trailing by 1 in Philly. We were winning that game 6-5 after 7. Ledee hit a 2-run home run in the 8th.
