Why the Marlins won't go out and get a bat?

I'd like to see Choi hit third.

Castillo

Gonzalez

Choi

Lowell

Cabrera

Conine

Pierre

Redmond/Treanor

Pitcher

thats my lineup...except with pierre and castillo at the top I like Sea Bass at the top right now. Change his mindset.

Put JP lower so he can get on base for Red/Treanor who hit well with RISP and start rallies. dont you want your better bats getting more AB per game?

logic. use it. As of late, Castillo, Sea Bass, and Choi have been our hottest bats. Redmond could also bat second, but Sea Bass has better power.

I was thinking...Redmond always makes good contact...

Goes the other way into the red zone....

Could he do the job?

Choi is better because imagine a lefty-righty-lefty matchup? Or an all lefty leadoff 3? JP, Luis, Choi against righties.

JP, Luis, Easley against lefties. Could be...could be....

But then again...what can we really do?

We will have to wait and see what jack does

I dont care as of late

Cabs and Lowell need to be in the top 4 hitters(in this lineup)

now if you had another bat, you could drop them back

Pierre, Castillo, Cabs and Lowell should all hit around .300 this season

I don't really get why we are playing like s***

The only logical choice. :thumbdown Sorry Fran, have you seen tonight's Rays game? His play in CF was quite sloppy tonight.

Im tired of all this he should this he should that be the #3 hitter. what the marlins need is to go get a #3 hitter from another team because this one doesnt have one

I don't really get why we are playing like s*** timely hitting. its probably the most important aspect to an offense. not wether its "good" or "Bad"

Looking back on tonights box score...the offense wasn't too bad

It was the defense we should be b***hing about

next yeah I'm sure he'd hate to go from the Diamondbacks to a first place team. He's in the last year of his contract, so it's not like he'd have to stay here past this season.

I have a name.

What about Craig "Custard" Wilson.

the Pirates arent dumb, and he would cost a fortune(rather go after Los)

Well I hear Beltran and Finley being thrown around, but he only makes $1,150,000 and fields CF pretty well.

If we're talking about the pirates I'd rather go after Daryle Ward.

who?

We don't need a bat. We can't afford one anyway. The answer is a lineup designed to get the best production out of everyone.

Stop with all the Conine fanboyism. We don't need a bat?

Yeah, right. It isnt 'fanboyism', it is simple strategy.

PAY ATTENTION: because only a few people here get it (rferry, dtrizzle) that I have seen in this thread.

This ISNT about being a great fan or being loyal to Conine. This is about production.

Fact: Conine is a high contact hitter.

Fact: Conine is struggling with a .180 RISP (more or less).

Pretty much Fact: Cabs and Lowell are going to hit no matter where they are in the lineup. Lowell is slumping right now, but is showing signs of snapping out of it. But both Cabs and Lowell are going to hit no matter where they are.

Here, again, is the reason why you put Conine in the 3 hole - BECAUSE IT IS THE POSITION IN THE LINEUP THAT WILL MAKE HIM MOST EFFECTIVE.

Why? Because Conine is a high contact hitter. And because with Castillo and JP on base, the right side of the infield has to hold them on. That means, THERE IS A BIG HOLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHEN JP AND CASTILLO GET ON BASE. Conine can slap the ball the other way. All he has to do is make contact. Conine can hit the ball the other way. It isnt about stats here. Remember, Fudge hit .297 with 16HRs and only 85RBI last year. His RISP was ridiculous. But Conine is a very similar hitter in that he can make contact and get it done in the clutch.

Granted, Conine is struggling now. But there are several reasons for that. One, he is partially injured. We have got to get him some rest and as healthy as possible. That said, Conine is a gamer and will come to play. Two, he is not comfortable hitting in the 6 right now. He has very little protection, or at least, very few proven hitters for pitchers to worry about. No one respects AGon and Choi - yet. They wont pitch to Conine.

Which brings us to another reason Conine should hit 3. Because with Lowell and Cabs behind him, they HAVE to pitch to him.

This is a CHANCE to make your hitters the most effective you can. I agree with DTrizzle that this is Jack's fault at this point. I dont know if the idea has occured to them or not, but if it has and they refuse - it is because of somekind of pride more so than any real rational reason.

Which is the same reason most of you here denounce the idea of Conine hitting 3.

This is not some loyal fan trying to get Conine involved. This is a diehard fan of the team who has the scruples to realize A) we dont have the money to make a deal for a SIGNIFICANT UPGRADE at the 3 and B) wants to find a way to MAXIMIZE the talent we currently have.

You just dont lose all your skills in a matter of months.

next Yep and he can veto any trade

Conine is hurt, you need to understand that

he should have had his shoulder checked out in the offseason but he didnt

now its costing us

who? Craig Wilson.

He can also play first base, catcher, all of the outfield positions, and DH.

Finley is very expensive. He's also one of the players bringing fans into the D-back games. Like I said earlier I'm sure if we gave up 1 of our top prospects along with nunez and one of our young relief pitchers I'm sure the Diamondbacks would be willing to eat some of the contract. Even if we were to make a trade for him there would only be about 3.5 million left on his contract.

Conine is hurt, you need to understand that

he should have had his shoulder checked out in the offseason but he didnt

And he may continue to be hurt the rest of the season.

Frank Catalanotto for #3 hitter :thumbup

Why? He doesnt more talent than Conine.

Look PEOPLE! Why would you make a deal for similar talent? Keep the prospects and the money, and maximize what you have. Unless you are going to make a SIGNIFICANT UPGRADE, I dont see any incentive to make a deal.

Thank God our FO is thinking the same thing.

Well I hear Beltran and Finley being thrown around, but he only makes $1,150,000 and fields CF pretty well.

he just a 1B and a decent RF I guess

him in CF is plain funny(I dont care if he has played there before, he is not a CF)
