June 25, 200422 yr with petitte coming off the DL and now with beltran.... I'd think the astros are gonna be pretty damn good from here on out.. i'll with the astros
June 25, 200422 yr Put me down for the Astros. Good pitching, good hitting, good fielding, experience. Things are looking good for them.
June 25, 200422 yr I can't vote to be honest. IMO this will be a classic race between the Cubs, Cardinals, and Astros. All 3 teams have their strengths and weaknesses, and I wouldn't be surprised if any of the 3 end up winning the division. I'm rooting for the Cardinals though without a doubt among those 3, I'd be funny to see them win after hearing all the stuff all offseason about Houston and the Cubs. Also, the Cardinals have the best fans in the league and I enjoy my time in St. Louis when I am down there usually once or twice a year for a couple Cardinals games.
June 25, 200422 yr well, i hope the cards win. theyre my favorite team in the central, and i hope the cubs win the wild card. but i voted for the cubs winning the division, and i think the 'stros'll win the WC.
June 25, 200422 yr the cardinals are the team everyone has been surprised by. by august i expect the cardinals, astros, and cubs to all be within 3 games of each other and for it to remain taht way throughout the year. the brewers are their young prospects away from being for real. the reds will probably fade based on their lack of starting pitching.....but they could continue to throw monkey wrenches into the mix. everyone buys into the myth of the cubs being so much better than anyone else....i dont really know if that is really true. i still maintain teh astros win the division but that is a bit clouded in homerism. i do think fully that there wont be any team 'pulling' away unless the other two suffer major injuries.
June 25, 200422 yr I'll take the Cubs pitching staff over the Astros and the Cubs offense isnt that far off (Walker, Patterson, Lee, Ramirez, Sosa, Alou, Barrett). The Cubs bullpen has struggled but has good arms (Farnsworth, Remlinger, Hawkins, Beltran, Merker). I see the Cubs pulling away when the pitching staff is 100% healthy and the bullpen starts pitching consistently.
