Also consistent top 5 in the Sears Cup, which is the award for best overall athletic program. I don't see FSU in that category, and Miami is just a private school for Northerners who want a tan. Anyways, the Gators teams have no class. Spurrier is a jerk. The Gator Flop was utter unclass. The baseball team goes into Miami and talks trash and does jacks***. The basketball team can't get past the opening round of the Final Four Touney. And, they are jerk, unclass, a**hole fans. When I said best school in the state, I meant...best school in the state. They are better than all state schools, better than Miami, better than Stetson, etc. In fact, USNews consistently ranks them as a top 50 COLLEGE in the country...you know, the same list that includes such schools as Cal Tech, MIT, Harvard, Duke, UNC, Vandy, Washington College, Notre Dame, etc. Yah, those schools (I see a few private schools in that list). Steve Spurrier is total badass. No other way around it. He's a class act in person, and is effing hilarious. Genius at football. The Florida Flop was weak and dirty. But we don't exactly have a great law-abiding history anyway (i.e. Charlie Pell). Things cleaned up under Spurrier. Every year he was the head coach, UF was the cleanest program in the SEC (and the state...as FSU is dirty beyong belief, and Miami had troubles in mid-90s). Banging sisters? I dont know. I chose to go the small college route, so I don't live in Gainesville. Chances are, if we don't bang sisters in Greenville, SC...they don't bang sisters in Gainesville, FL. Jerk, unclass, a**hole fans? In my experiences, Miami has THE WORST fans. Not intelligent football-wise, and total a$$holes. I've been around UGA, UT, FSU, LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Nebraska, and South Carolina (South Carolina has the classiest fans IMO) fans....Miami takes the cake. Actually, Vanderbilt is a close 2nd. Plus it is South Florida...anyways why was there any need to bring up a stereotype, which isn't even really from SC(more West Virginia and KY I think) when the discussion was about the schools. The baseball team at UM beat UF this year in the super regionals. And there was that total FLUKE of UM beating the #1 UF Tennis team in this years tournament. That's everything? There are so many other sports than that. The reason you don't consider UM to be a basketball team is because they aren't as successful as UF, the UF women's b-ball team is way better. The UF Women's soccer team has won a national championship in the psat 5 or 6 years, the UF tennis team has won a couple national championships. There is no comparing UM to UF in athletics. No way, no how. Again, top 5 in the Sears Cup Trophy running every year. And ALL of the fans I ran into at last years UM game in G'Ville were gold teethed, gold chained wannabe thugs who said such stupid remarks as "You guys got Ric Flair, but We've got THE ROCK" like that means anything. When UM was losing to UF this year, you know how many boos I heard??? And how many people left the stadium? Horrible bandwagoners who can't even fill up the toilet bowl on their good years. And if you're related to or are a alumnus of UM, then I can respect that, until you say stuff as "banging your sister in G'Ville" That's totally classy. And then basically forcing the NCAA to make an "excessive celebration" rule because UM was penalized over 300 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct? I've rooted for the Red Wings as long as I can remember, same as the Tigers, and seeing them win 3 Cups in 5 years didn't help my cause. My grandparents used to live basically next door to the Cobalt Arena where the Red Wings used to play. They were paid by the arena for their yard to be used as part of the parking lot. If I had a dollar for every out of work plumber I saw at Michigan games I'd be filthy rich. Why pose? As for UF students/alum.... You may be right about being the best school in the state, but is that really saying much? Fact is the perception around the country is that UF supporters are a bunch of hill jackin hicks.
