A trade has gone down.....

Featured Replies

I love Lo Duca, but I am not impressed with Ishii's numbers, specifically his k/BB ratio. What happened to this guy? Look at how far down his K numbers are this year! Yeah, Ks aren't everything, but when you see a drop like that, it's usually not a good sign. Of course, he also has two complete games and shutouts.

Why would we trade 432 Juan, when we could have kept him in the offseason if we wanted him?

Why is Castro not playing when we thought he could hit in the offseason?

we cannot trade choi not only is he cheap, young and talented. He is a great influence on our team. Even though he doesnt speak much english he brings this team closer together by making them blend with all the diffrent cultures that play the game today. he completes the togetherness of the team and also has fun weather its his respect for everyone in the clubhouse no matter what, his handshakes with other player that involve bowing. Please dont trade choi

Here's the trade:

L.A. gets Finley from Arizona, and Brad Penny and Hee Seop Choi from Florida.

Florida gets Guillermo Mota, Paul Lo Duca and Juan Encarnacion from L.A.

Arizona gets Jayson Werth from the Dodgers, and prospects from the Marlins.

I think I'm going to need a vomit bag :thumbdown

Well Ishii, doesnt have fantastic numbers, but he does have 11 wins and is a cheaper alterntive to Penny/Pavano.

Mota has some nice numbers as well. If we get mota in return we have a whole in the rotation.

Lo Duca has some nice numbers, hitting .301 with 10 homers

What a tease of a thread

I think you're correct.I think dawg is goin loving this, he wanted to see all of us panic and see what we could come up with. :banghead

can someone tell when dawg actually said penny for all we know it could be one of the 100 other rumors. someone posted the article , but there have been hundreds of other articles. This whole dodger deal makes no sense i hope the FO isnt this dumb

oh wow, i didnt even realize we'd also be throwing in prospects for some odd reason :lol :lol :lol

im alright with trading penny as long as we get another starter in return

we cant just trade penny and have wayne make all of his starts

if we dont get another arm then im gonna be pissed

personally, i would have rather kept penny

our rotation 1-5 was amazing

lo duca = second half slump

If this is all about salary, can't Penny just take a pay cut? He doesn't seem so much about the money, but more about the game...

lolololol

Why not? I mean thats just my opinion, I of course don't know him personally. How ever thats how he comes across to me. I've seen him around various places and he isn't as showy as some of the other players. More down to earth. I don't know, just my opinion.

So you are saying that Penny doesn't seem like a guy that has a little bit of pride or a guy that would like to take care of his family unequivocally for the rest of his life? Please... I know you mean well, but this is supposed to be a serious trade thread *cough cough*...

it IS penny

dawg only gets inside stuff on brad penny

i believe they are cousins or something like that

besides he is the only SP we will trade

You serious? Mota is better than anyone in our bullpen right now not named Benitez, Lo Duca instantly becomes the best catcher and say what you want, but Choi and Enc are pretty much washes with Enc having more RBI, but a lower BA.

I love this trade. Every single weakness gets upgraded: stronger bullpen, a legit everyday catcher, great right field defense, but our rotation does take a hit. If we get Lowe, now we really may be on to something...

d trizzle has a great point it makes no sense to trade one our starting 5 of possibly the best staff in baseball.

also weve been waiting all year to get the big healthy and starting 5 in a row and break it up the day beckett returns

it all makes perfect sense

most likely we will end up with a starting catcher and an arm to replace penny that will be decent

Yes it does make sense! We are not the Yankees!

i agree with that

but it DOES make sense

i would have rather kept our rotation though and give the prospects up

this type of rotation is the one that takes you deep into the playoffs

penny is a tough loss

Meh Loduca doesnt do much for me. He's only a marginal upgrade over Redmond. We better get another starter in Ishi if this trade goes down.

If you take a closer look at Loducas numbers they've been dropping since his torrid first month. If it wasnt for that month his numbers would look average.

BA:

April- .416

May- .327

June- .222

July- .250

OBP:

April- .447

May- .377

June- .255

July- .330

And usually catchers tend to wear down as the season goes on so I dont expect much improvment among those numbers.
