August 8, 200422 yr Are you all telling me you don't think the lack of Penny doing any meaningful training program which includes arm strength exercises didn't contribute to this injury? Come on people! This has been one of Penny's biggest problems. 502303 David Wells and Sabathia make Penny look like Brad Pitt. Neither of them have had a serious arm issue. Unless you know what Penny's exercise routine is, you shouldn't act like you know everything he does or does not do. Hell, Greg Maddox looks like the dough boy. I doubt anyone questions his work ethic. 502366 It has been questioned all this time! It was said that he never did any kind of conditioning program and Penny responded because he was "country strong." 502375 Hey, I think he should be in better shape. I think a lot of baseball players should be in better shape. However, his physical shape may be irrelevant with his possible injury. Until the doctor says his conditioning was the cause, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. Arm injuries generally aren't caused by being fat.
August 8, 200422 yr Arm injuries are usually caused because you over use the arm. His arm isn't used to pitching as much as he has been over the past few years and the lack of conditioning has something to do with it.

Are you his agent? Do you know his life, or routines? No. You always have to be the right one, guess what? Your wrong, you don't get an arm injury because your fat.

It doesn't have to do with his body fat. I can't wait for Penny's relative to come here and trash you again - since he actually knows what he's talking about. Stop spreading false information - man, my arm hurts, must be because my conditioning.
August 8, 200422 yr OK, you all think I am wrong. I told you we needed to get rid of Penny. I have been correct more than all of you combined. Keep on doubting, Penny was criticized just last week for not having a conditioning program and being out of shape.
August 8, 200422 yr Penny leaves game with arm injury August 8, 2004 LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Dodgers pitcher Brad Penny injured his throwing arm in the first inning Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies and left the game. Pitching for only the second time since getting traded to Los Angeles, Penny strained his right biceps on his 14th pitch. Assistant trainer Matt Wilson came out of the dugout with manager Jim Tracy to check on Penny, who threw one warmup pitch and jumped off the mound writhing in pain before Wilson led him to the clubhouse. Penny is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. It shouldnt be too serious if it just concerns the bicep.

August 8, 200422 yr Agree with Cape. 502319 That's a first. 502329 Shut up, people agree with me because I am right. You can't talk because you haven't been here long. Lately people have gotten spiteful and rude, but before alot agreed with me. I told you Penny needed to be traded and thankfully he was. 502340 This is why people get irritated at you. You make every statement of opinion as if it was 100% fact. Try adding "in my opinion" or "I think" every once in a while. It might get a better response. Or don't, I could care less. But as much as you think you're the expert on, oh let's see.... everything, the fact is you DON'T know.
August 8, 200422 yr FACT: Penny is out of shape. FACT: Penny got injured today. FACT: Penny has no arm conditioning program. Connect the facts.
August 8, 200422 yr Back to the injury, a bicep injury definitely is not a good sign. I guess it is better than an elbow injury although you have to wonder if the strength will ever be fully back if it is torn or whatever. I hope the best for him. I don't care what kind of shape you are in no matter what people get injured. You think Prior isn't in good shape or most of the pitchers in the league that do get hurt. He probably was not warm yet and overthrew a pitch which he tended to do and tore his bicep
August 8, 200422 yr Penny suffers strained right biceps Dodgers starter to have MRI on Monday By Ken Gurnick / MLB.com LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers saw their dream season flash before their eyes in the first inning Sunday when newly acquired ace Brad Penny strained his right biceps and ran off the mound in obvious pain. Penny, who will have an MRI on Monday, had an inflammed biceps in 2002 and spent six weeks on the disabled list. The biceps attaches the upper arm to the shoulder socket. Penny allowed a one-out homer to Chase Utley, retired Bobby Abreu on a fly to right, then threw a fastball away to Jim Thome and winced on his follow-through, moving his glove hand toward the anterior side of his shoulder. After a meeting on the mound with manager Jim Tracy and assistant trainer Matt Wilson, Penny attempted a practice pitch and literally ran off the mound in pain, stopping near the third-base line, then was ushered off the field and into the trainer's room for evaluation. It was only Penny's second start as a Dodger, having been acquired in a six-player trade nine days earlier from the Florida Marlins with Hee-Seop Choi and minor league pitcher Bill Murphy for All-Star catcher Paul Lo Duca, setup reliever Guillermo Mota and outfielder Juan Encarnacion. Penny was acquired to be the ace of a staff that didn't seem to have one. He came with an 8-8 record, 3.15 ERA and a reputation that he didn't pitch deep enough into games. However, in his first Dodger start Tuesday night, he pitched eight scoreless innings and allowed only two infield singles. Penny has had a history of shoulder problems. In 2000, when he was runner-up for rookie of the year, he was disabled for six weeks with an internal impingement of the shoulder. In 2002 he missed six more weeks with an inflamed nerve and strain of his biceps tendon. Ken Gurnick is a reporter for MLB.com. August 8, 200422 yr Mmmmm, this pizza looks great..just..out..of..my..reach... (reaches for it) ...Man my arm! Cmon Cape, face the real facts, you can't say he injured his arm due to his body health. Until they say so, then you can't. Oh, and I just saw your other post, thanks Hotcorner, "Shut up, people agree with me because I am right." Sadly, not true. People ARGUE with you because you attempt to think you are correct in which you just get pissy..That time of month? And I've been here long enough to find out that your a moron Thanks anyway, too bad you haven't been right but don't care to see different. Come back another day!

People are trying to have a conversation with you to explain that maybe, JUSTTTTTTTTTTTTT maybe, Penny's injury has nothing to do with being fat. Instead of accepting that point of view and waiting for a DOCTOR'S opinion on what was the cause of his injury, you fly off the deep end and act like a douche. Grow up. :thumbdown

Penny has had arm problems, is known for not going deep into games, and has done nothing near what he should in arm conditioning. Spring training and some bullpen is not enough.

August 8, 200422 yr I can't see it as having anything to do with if he's in shape or not. Hope it's not serious. Good luck Brad.
August 8, 200422 yr I give up with you people. You cannot see the forest for the trees. 502467 sorry Dr Capefish :plain
