August 8, 200422 yr greg maddux doesnt condition his arm in season neither. and he only lifts light weights during the offseason. the best way to 'get your arm in shape' is by pitching with proper mechanics. if anything...penny's work in the past helped his arm strength. besides you dont generate power from your arm anyway, almost all is generated from your legs. penny being overweight somewhat did not contribute to this injury at all. if it were a back injury or another type of injury then you coudl argue that. but this isnt it. hopefully its nothing too serious though...i'd hate to see dime go down for any extended length of time.
August 8, 200422 yr OK, you all think I am wrong. I told you we needed to get rid of Penny. I have been correct more than all of you combined. Keep on doubting, Penny was criticized just last week for not having a conditioning program and being out of shape. 502426 Now you just look like a dumb little kid. People are trying to have a conversation with you to explain that maybe, JUSTTTTTTTTTTTTT maybe, Penny's injury has nothing to do with being fat. Instead of accepting that point of view and waiting for a DOCTOR'S opinion on what was the cause of his injury, you fly off the deep end and act like a douche. Grow up. :thumbdown 502460 Look who is talking. I am stating facts and using thos facts to connect the dots. Penny has had arm problems, is known for not going deep into games, and has done nothing near what he should in arm conditioning. Spring training and some bullpen is not enough. 502463 Someone buy this little kid a dictionary. It is obvious his school has failed in teaching him what constitutes a fact. A personal OPINION does not automatically make you "right." You've jumped to the conclusion that Penny's conditioning is what CAUSED his injury. I'll wait for Dr. Andrews' opinion on what caused his injury over some teenage poster. I'm sure you have years of medical experience to make a conclusion about a pitcher's injury when you have NEVER examined him. :whistle
August 8, 200422 yr Is it not fact Penny has had a previous arm injury, is it not fact Penny does nothing in terms of conditioning like he should, and is it not fact that Penny is now injured?
August 8, 200422 yr FACT: Penny is out of shape. Prove it. FACT: Penny got injured today. Yes, a fact. FACT: Penny has no arm conditioning program. Prove it. is known for not going deep into games Not a fact. The article you quote says a reputation for not pitching long. That's entirely different than a fact. He actually averages 6 1/3 innings per start this year - nearly a third of an inning higher than his career. Connect the facts. 502441 I can't. Two points make a line, but the only one you have stated is that he got hurt today.
August 8, 200422 yr We shall wait for the report. They won't blame Penny for being out of shape, although the LA media might, but let's see if the Dodgers or whoever he ends up with force him into a proper conditioning program.
August 8, 200422 yr I find it sad that this had to happen to Penny. The injury sounds serious and looks serious. He has had shoulder problems in the past.
August 8, 200422 yr Is it not fact Penny has had a previous arm injury, is it not fact Penny does nothing in terms of conditioning like he should, and is it not fact that Penny is now injured? 502471 1. His previous injuries could be separate from this one. 2. "Nothing"? You need to stop making all or nothing statements. You're usually wrong when you use them. 3. No one knows how Penny conditions his arm. Having a gut DOES NOT mean a pitcher's arm is not in shape. 4. Yes, it is a fact that Penny is now injured. However, I'm off to run and workout, Dr. Capefish. I'm trying to get back in shape so I don't blow my arm out reaching for my next beer. :hat
August 8, 200422 yr Cape, dawg told you facts last week. Go back and read those. I am 100% sure dawg knows more about Penny than you do.
August 8, 200422 yr Cape, dawg told you facts last week. Go back and read those. I am 100% sure dawg knows more about Penny than you do. 502478 OK Admin. I want to ask Dawg about Penny's work habits and conditioning. Next time anybody sees him, ask him! It was a big thing they were talking about the last few starts here with the Marlins. Len and Tommy even mentioned it!
August 8, 200422 yr Cape - How old are you? 502493 16 i think 502505 How is it relevant though?
August 8, 200422 yr Cape - How old are you? 502493 16 i think 502505 How is it relevant though? 502506 because you dont argue like an adult

August 8, 200422 yr I was just hoping there was a logical reason why I get so annoyed with you, that's all.
August 8, 200422 yr I was just hoping there was a logical reason why I get so annoyed with you, that's all. 502510 That is not logical reasoning. Age shouldn't have a factor. You are what, 5 years older? I could understand 10, 15, or 20 years to my senior, but 5 is not anything to hoot about.
August 8, 200422 yr Philly beats LA 4-1. Penny gets the loss. He is now 9-9, that sucks for him. One mistake and he gets an L.
August 8, 200422 yr Cape - How old are you? 502493 16 i think 502505 How is it relevant though? 502506 because you dont argue like an adult 502507 :whistle Like Iowa and Foladar do? Nice try Ramp. 502509 And how is it "relevant" that my name is placed into your trashy teenage mouth? Get lost Dr SpamFish, nobody cares about your opinionated facts. I don't argue, I tell you the truth - I don't use opinions and try to say I'm using facts. FACT: You have no clue FACT: You don't know Penny's "gut" caused his injury FACT: You need a life!

August 9, 200422 yr the best way to 'get your arm in shape' is by pitching with proper mechanics. besides you dont generate power from your arm anyway, almost all is generated from your legs. penny being overweight somewhat did not contribute to this injury at all. 502469 Exactly Das something Cape doesnt understand. Pitchers generate power from their legs and the only part of their arms that can help them pitch is the tricep.
August 9, 200422 yr FACT: Penny has no arm conditioning program. 502441 what????? how on earth is that a fact? how on earth would you know for a fact that he has no "arm conditioning program"? where did you glean that...erm...interesting bit of knowledge? you don't know how he trains....even if he doesn't lift weights, it doesn't mean he fails to keep his pitching arm in shape. Probably did, but like the article I posted says....Penny has had arm troubles before and has done no conditioning in response. 502449 oh really? that second part must have been encoded or something....i totally missed it.
August 9, 200422 yr Hi guys, thanks for the concern for Brad, I appreciate it, thought I would give you an update on Brad, he did leave the game in pain, it appears to be a strained bicep muscle, the mri will be today so we will will find out something concrete. Sabitha had the same thing last year and only missed one start. He said it is VERY PAINFUL when it happens, which would explain the agony Brad was in. As for Cape, once again you show your youth and immaturity. As far as Brad having arm problems in the past, they were all very minor things and there isnt a pitcher in the league that hasnt had some sort of minor injuries. Pitching is a very unnatural way for the arm to move and EVERYONE has problems from time to time. I know you are hoping he is seriously injured because then you could say I told you so!!! Everytime you open your mouth, you show how young you are. Although, I thought you were like 12. Dr. Cape speaks, so it must be!!!!!!!
