Report: Heat pursuing former UF star Jason William

Featured Replies

if this happens, Pat Riley will be an official god.

you get one of the most dominant players of all time without even giving up your best player.....

Or as some idiots say (though it is true), the Heat got Shaq without giving up their leading scorer.

Doesn't sound like a particularly good deal for the Heat.

James Posey and Jason Williams for Eddie Jones and Keyon Dooling? This deal is amazing for the Heat.

Except that's not the deal.

It's Williams and Posey for Jones, Jones, and Dooling. Our bench, like this trade, would suck.

are you kidding me NinjaUbi?

did skip bring his "flashy passes" here? didn't think so.

and you don't like this because it takes away playing time from Raz and Wright?

:lol :lol :lol

Don't compare Skip and Williams. Skip is actually a street baller who wanted to play in the NBA. So he matured. He didn't try that flashy crap in Toronto. Williams is an NBA player who thinks the NBA is And1. He hasn't matured. He sat out late in games last year because Earl Watson understood the way Hubie Brown wanted to play. Too many good players isn't always a good thing. Role players are needed. Williams, Wade, and Shaq are all players that could be stars for their team. Look at last years Lakers. They had egos. No chemistry. Do you people think Williams and Shaq can last? This is just another dumb rumor that won't happen. You wanna get Williams and Posey but only wanna give up Jones and Dooling? YEAH RIGHT. Fair trade right there. Memphis isn't that stupid. Fans love Posey and Williams and Memphis would lose tons of fans if that happened.

And don't hate on Rasual and Wright until you've seen what they can do. :hat

Ummm Williams has changed and can be a true point guard now.

Also it doesnt look like a fair trade but West has always been in love with EJ.

So it could happen but I doubt it right now.

Except that's not the deal.

Wrong.

"Part of the deal would include Miami sending small forward Eddie Jones and either Damon Jones or Keyon Dooling to Memphis, who might throw in James Posey to make it work."

Not sure how you can interpret that as Jones, Jones, and Dooling....

Mah bad. Where I read, it was all three.

Anyway, the trade still sucks. You don't just trade because you want to trade. You have to look at things from every side. And this trade would suck. I've already given my reasons. I'd rather have Dwyane Wade improve as a PG then bring in some selfish wannabe street baller. That's just me.

I really want to know what you people see in Williams that is so "MUST HAVE!"

Well for one, it is known that Wade is most effective when he's at SG. Williams is no wannabe anything these days. In fact he was the point guard of a team that won 50 games out west. Sure, he did that with Sacramento, but there's something different between the Kings and Memphis. So you can get rid of EJ, slide Wade back to SG and get Williams, who I would think would be terrific in getting the ball to Shaq. This trade is a winner.

Meh, I'd rather have Battier than Posey. He isn't known as the Minister of Defense for nothing.

But yeah, this deal looks great if it dumps Eddie (a cancer on this team that needs excision).

Battier sucks. This deal would be awesome for the Heat so I hope they don't do it.

After reading your user name and avatar I won't listen to that crap.

Likewise with any praise you heap on Carolina players (including Bob McAdoo). Hell, last thing we need is a new-Carolina "me-first" type like Vince Carter or Jerry Stackhouse (wonder why their teams haven't done so well the past few seasons, despite their superstar status?).

Ha! A dook fan talking about team success. Man those dookies in the NBA sure do win a lot of rings don't they?

Last time I checked both Admin Brown and Rasheed Wallace got one this year.

And last I checked, up until this season, Admin Brown was a failure, and RashWEED Wallace was an embarassment to UNC and THE figurehead of the JailBlazers. :banghead

And anyways, Battier just got signed to a large contract in Memphis, so I don't think he will be going anywhere else soon. And so what? Is it OK for me to root for my players to come play for my teams? I'm sure you're saying the same exact thing about getting former Tar Heels to play for Charlotte.

And last I checked as well, the Tar Heel connection of Brendan Haywood, Michael Jordan, and Jerry Stackhouse ran Washington into the ground (as if it couldn't be done any more).

That's all I'll say about this issue. As far as I'm concerned, it's TOPIC CLOSED.

at least carolina produces superstars from time to time. the only one from dook i can think of today is elton brand, and his team is awful

6.8 Assists Per Game / 1.9 Turnovers Per Game. 3.3 to 1 assists to turnover.

He took 272 less shots in 04 than he took in 02 and played 7 more games last year. He's matured. He shoots 40% from the field and 33% from 3 point.

He's one of the better point guards in the game now, but everyone still wants to rip him for his early career, so no one acknowledges it.

If Memphis does this deal, they're morons.

Christian Lattener smokes weed to my man.

Yeah I dont see this every happening because Jerry West knows his s***, and this doesn't make sense at all.

i see this happening for the simple fact that west has loved jones since his days in LA and always wanted him back and the fact that shaq is pushing for this trade to happen cuz of his friendship with JWill.

:lol

Do you how many times we've heard the same thing? Every time Eddie is rumored to be traded it's always to Memphis just because of West. It's been like that for a couple years now.

overall, this would be a pretty good trade for the heat, but it would open up a huge problem, while patching up the PG one

without EJ, where's your perimeter shooting coming from?

Well Heckeroo, IF Damon Jones would stay....him and Wesley Person basically live for perimeter shots plus Raz and Wright should be able to drain some shoots as well.

This ain't the olympics. Cutting down on our perimeter shooting to get a quality PG is worth it. Plus Damon, Williams and Rasual can all shoot.
