Series sweep against the Giants?

Featured Replies

I believe if McKeon stays with this lineup and our O stays hot as it is we can sweep the Giants. Hopefully our pitching will be good. I think we can sweep them. But too bad the Padres and Cubs won tonight. :thumbdown

If Dontrelle and Beckett pitch the same as they did last week and our offense remains consistent with this "new" lineup, a sweep is very possible but let's not speak too soon...

so basically waht you are saying is that if the offense keeps scoring the way they have been for the past 3 games

and if our pitching keeps it the same we can sweep

score more + keep opposition down to a minimun = victory

hmmmmmmm wouldnt that be a given?

I think we're jumping the gun a little bit. One game at a time

i agree man. Dontrelle has to pitch better than he did against SD, and he really hasnt had the best of success against the Giants in his career.

I think dontrelle even though he had an off game against SD, has been pithcing way better. Most importantly his control has been good, thats the key. With good control sometimes theyll find ways to hit against a pitcher, but as long as control is maintained the pitcher controls the direction of the game. Pavano is good b/c of his great control, and dontrelle is too, and if he can get his breaking balls to move more than they did against SD he will have a great game

ah his breaking did move very well agiast SD problem it moved right into the middle of the plate :banghead

Thats b/c it didnt move enough and it hung over the plate.

While it would be great to sweep the Giants, with the Cubs now in first (for the wildcard) it's something of an irrelevancy. Winning never hurts but we need to see the Cubbies fall from grace if we're going to make up any ground.

What I'd really like to see is the Fish get within 5.5 of the Braves before our six games with them in September. I've felt for awhile the team's best chance may be to win the division rather than trying to climb over three teams in the wildcard, all of whom are playing good baseball.

But too bad the Padres and Cubs won tonight.

The Marlins, and us the fans, should only be concerned with winning as many games as we can. Let the cards (Wild ones) fall where they may. If we just win our games, will be in the post season. One game at a time. We can't control other games (teams) so why worry about it? Just worry about tonight's game against the Giants. Forget the other games; the other teams. Just win baby!

Go fish!!!

Lets make sure we get some early runs tonight too. I can see Willis pitching a lot better with a four run lead early on than just trying to keep us in the game, and thus probably throwing way too many pitches early on.

This thread should have been made after tonights game but whatever, a win tonight makes life a hell of a lot easier and takes the pressure off a little bit tomorrow.

We need the game tonight just to keep pace again. The Braves, Cubbies, Padres, and Astros have either won, or it looks like they will. It stinks to think we keep playing well and are not advancing in the standings. :thumbdown

You guys...this game is tied now. Stop jumping the gun!

Not jumping the gun, but if we don't win it, we fall back in the standings again. There is no margin right now with the way the Cubbies are playing.

damn...we should have won today and sweep them tom...

we deserved to win...i hate these games...

why do we have to mess up???

Why the hell are threads like this started?
