They better not play in games at Wrigley!

I say we all protest because I waisted a lot of money to go to all 3 games and now look what's going on.

Protest in what way?

You didn't waste your money. You will get to see other games for that money.

Let's go to Chicago and flaunt around in our World Series stuff outside the ballpark :mischief

:notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

its in the lease of the stadium i believe.

545073

White Sox have the only veto.

545076

and do you really think they wont exercise that?

545093

I don't know Das, our ownership is known for hating the Cubs, as is the mayor of our city.

If they got a hold of this idea, I think they actually wouldn't have a problem letting the Marlins play one "home game" against the Cubs at our park, especially if the Marlins are willing to split some of the money made at this game with the White Sox.

For $100,000 (chump change) the Marlins could print t-shirts and replica hats, towels etc., give the White Sox season ticket holders half-price tickets and fill the place with diehard Cubs-haters.

It would be great stunt. I love it. Bill Veeck would be proud.

Exactly! It would be great!

If we must play 2 games on the same day in Chicago, then let's not give anything to the Cubs. Make a deal to use U.S. Cellular Field (a modern baseball facility) for that one game and let the White Sox fans come in dressed up in Marlins stuff. Could you imagine the sales? It would be another Wreck by Veeck type stunt and make it at least a bit fairer.

NOTE: White Sox are on the road that weekend.

545047

That wont ever happen.

545064

I agree. That would never happen. 1) The Cubs won't allow it and 2) If you're trying to avoid Cubs fans, the stadium will get filled w/ them anyway. There's no point to it.

Cubs can't say a thing because it doesn't include much travel. The Sox fans would be there in masses to support this.

Veeck used to the own the old AAA Marlins, right?

promo director I believe.

Actually, I'd guess it would be similar to Sox/Cubs games at the Cell in that the crowd would be 50/50 with Cubs and White Sox (in this case marlins) fans.

But i'd be a ton of fun and the crowd would at least somewhat help out the Marlins, as our fans make a lot more noise and pay attention to the game more than theirs do.

oheeoh...there is no such thing as a Cubs "fan"

:shifty

:lol

So true......

But you know what i'm saying....

Dear Mr. Samson,

As a Marlins fan I appreciate every thing that you do.

I understand Mr. Loria could not get one game made up

in Miami out of the 3 missed. Since the game likely

would have to be played in Chicago, I propose you play

the game on the Southside of Chicago at U.S. Cellular

Field. You could have a promotion for White Sox fans

where they could come in (and fill up the ballpark)

and buy Marlins hats and shirts and pretend to be the

Marlins home crowd. It would be an interesting

promotion and one that can be done for a game since

the White Sox are on a roadtrip this coming weekend.

You could bring Billy and even the Mermaids to teach

everyone how to do the Fish. It would be alot of fun

and safer for the players than to have to play an

extra game in the fire trap that is Wrigley Field.

You may or may have not known this, but Former White

Sox owner Bill Veeck was once the promotions manager

for the old Miami Marlins and this promotion would

make him proud.

We back your fight to get the games played in Miami,

but if that cannot happen, this is the next best

thing.

Thank You and Have A Nice Day!

Promising statement from Bud Selig.

Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig commented as follows: "I appreciate the cooperation of the New York Yankees and their fans throughout these delays. This has been an extraordinarily difficult time for Florida, as Hurricane Frances stalled off the coast and played havoc with everyone's lives in that state for the entire weekend. Given the stage of the season we are in, and the exciting pennant races, it is critical that we do everything to decide the championship on the field, being fair to all teams involved."

If this isn't doubletalk and he's serious about being 'fair' we might just have 81 home games this year.

according to what i read at the marlins website it is possible that we might be the away team for both games on friday. That is if we play the double header. MLB is f***ing the marlins if that happens.

f*** 'em. Just forfeit the games and hold a press conference calling out Selig favoring the big money teams that Fox wants in the playoffs and WS. I'd rather miss the playoffs then give in to this crap. If we had to play the games in Chicago we should have done it this past weekend. Screw this crap.

And exactly what will this accomplish?

Nothing.

Thats a lot of Nothing :plain I would love to see the Marlins beat them in their own back yard on the day of the Double Header. I hope to see those Cub fans crying just like they were last time. Maybe Baker can play baseball with his Kid after the game tellling him how they lost yet again to the Mighty Marlins. Then they can blow up pictures of Bud Selig in hopes that it will end the curse once in for all. Stupid Cub fans tricks are for kids!

I agree - but I got tix on Sept 10th to see the Marlins/Cubs up here in Chicago. If they play a double-header, I wont be mad at all!

But you are right, Cape.

if the marlins are home team which team gets the attendance numbers added to their attendance total?

if the marlins are home team do we get the curse or do the cubs stay with it?
