September 17, 200421 yr From the MLB Site: Koch's excused absence: Reliever Billy Koch is on an excused absence for personal reasons, and he likely will not rejoin the team this season. The Marlins acquired Koch from the White Sox on June 17 for minor league infielder Wilson Valdez. Seldom used, Koch last appeared for the Marlins on Aug. 26 against San Francisco, when he gave up one run in two-thirds of an inning. Koch lives in the Tampa Bay area, and for undisclosed personal reasons, he asked the organization if he could be with his family. The club agreed. In 23 games with the Marlins the right-handed reliever was 1-2 with a 3.51 ERA. He struck out 25 and walked 20 in 25 2/3 innings with the Marlins. That, plus more on AJ's elbow woes here: http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...s_fla&fext=.jsp
September 17, 200421 yr Good luck to Billy and whatever it is he's having to deal with hopefully it turns out fine.
September 17, 200421 yr Yeah, I would like to see him come out of this ok. I would have liked to see him turn it around and help us out in the pen, too. Good luck.
September 17, 200421 yr It better not be drugs, Florida teams are getting hammered with players leaving the team to deal with them, ranging from Jeff Allison, to Josh Hamilton, and to a lesser extent Ricky Williams.
September 17, 200421 yr I hope his wife gets well. He's a stand up guy and doesn't deserve this. 561738 It's his wife? I wonder what is wrong with her.. I hope she gets better real soon
September 17, 200421 yr I wonder if the Marlins can work this in such a way that it opens up a fillable roster spot?
September 17, 200421 yr Those numbers he put up as a Marlin weren't bad. A 3.51 ERA is pretty respectable.
September 17, 200421 yr Well fellas.....you all got your wish.....Billy can't "ruin" your seasons anymore.
September 17, 200421 yr Well fellas.....you all got your wish.....Billy can't "ruin" your seasons anymore. 561758 dude, there's like 5 people who dont like him you say it as if Marlins Nation wishes Billy's arm fell off
September 17, 200421 yr Those numbers he put up as a Marlin weren't bad. A 3.51 ERA is pretty respectable. 561747 Yes. And I think he is capable of much better. I hope he gets everything straight and sticks around for next year. Rosie will help him get on the right track. We have the makings of a nasty bullpen next year...
September 17, 200421 yr Hopfully Billy will take this time to find his old form and come back next year and be a key addition to an awesome bullpen.
September 17, 200421 yr I hope he's OK, but I'm also glad we won't have to hear of him anymore this season.
September 17, 200421 yr I hope he's OK, but I'm also glad we won't have to hear of him anymore this season. 561996 He was a good guy in Chicago, a blue collar type of guy, one who listened to the fans and tried to please them. That is where he went wrong, he tried to please them too much and when he started to apoligize for blowing games he was all about done in Chi-town. hope he does return to his Toronto/Oakland days, and hope he is well. I too am glad that I hear less from him, being out of Chicago and all.
September 17, 200421 yr I hope he's OK, but I'm also glad we won't have to hear of him anymore this season. 561996 Instead we have to get more crappy outings from Bump...yeah good trade.

Your idol is no more. :o

Your idol is no more. :o 562144 I'll make it....how are you gonna make it not being able to put him down any more? I really would love to see you pitch cause i bet your not even half as good as Billy the Kid is.
September 17, 200421 yr were screwed AJ might not return.... good job kock we wasted a goo dminor leaguer on u and u made lik 8 appearences.....who will fill his roster spot ?
September 17, 200421 yr Those numbers he put up as a Marlin weren't bad. A 3.51 ERA is pretty respectable. 561747 He was pretty bad over here with the White Sox. I felt sorry for the guy since he always apologized right after blowing another save. The guy tried his best to improve but he really never did any good here in the south side.
September 17, 200421 yr He's gonna come back next season and dominate. There were days he looked real good for us. It was just those days where he couldn't find his command. But as a few people have said here, Rosie should be able to help him out with that.
