September 30, 200421 yr Angels won the series in 2002 and kept the core of their players for 2003. When they didn't make the postseason in 2003, management didn't close shop. They kept what they had and went out and got big talent. Now, they are poised to make another post-season run. If the Angels are successful, Loria and company should view this as the formula for next year: Keep what we have and go out and get Vlad-like talent. If we do, the possibilities are limitless for next year. So, get those rally monkeys out.

He and Beinfest do a tremendous job with the money they have but it does not and cannot include paying for Vlad-like talent. If we sign Pavano, LoDuca and Benitez and trade Enc for whatever we can get for him (and replace him with Aguila), that is all anyone can expect.

September 30, 200421 yr My Early prediction: Florida signs Magglio Ordonez to a Pudge-esque deal....with his knee injury, the marketplace for Maggs is going to be thin, no one wants to spend significant $$ on an injury risk. Sign him to a one year $8 mil deal, with a mutual option for 3 extra years at 11.5-12.5 mil per. He'd get a chance to prove himself next year, and if he stays healthy gets 3 extra years for bigtime money. Extra $$ will be available with Hampton's contract coming to an end (at least our portion)
