How does a loss affects you?

Featured Replies

Games especially in the post season.

After the game, I don't like to talk to anyone. I'll be quiet for awhile. And

I won't watch SportsCenter or any highlights that has to do with the game because I can't bear to see them.

I usually sigh audibly. Get upset for 20 minutes or so and then get over it.

It kind of depends on the circumstances. Big games, takes a little longer, but it doesn't depress me for days on end or anything. I won't ever take something I have no control over that seriously.

I get over it pretty quickly but hate seeing highlights about it so I avoid watching Sportscenter or local news that might show highlights.

I get mad. Then I get over it.

The next day I could care less. It'd have to take someone saying something really ignorant to really tick me off again.

I don't watch any highlights, but I don't usually watch highlights anyways. Plus, when your team is the Bengals you learn to get over that stuff pretty quickly. Plus, Buckeyes stuff doesn't bother me that much.

I used to get mad. Now I don't give a s*** if the Skins lose, but if they win, it shocks the s*** out of me.

I don't get that upset but I used to especially with Carolina hoops. But that all changed with the infamous 8-20 season. Tough to really get upset about losing when its happening night in and night out.

I was in tears after the Eagles lost to Tampa Bay and after Temple lost to Seton Hall in the second round of the tournament....literal tears. I take it hard. I then got drunk after both games and got even sadder....The Eagles loss lasts a lot longer because i'm a serious eagles fan. I take it hardcore sometimes.

i dont take it too seriously. Actually, the only team that I take seriously winning and losing is MY team.....the team I play for. It's the only team that I actually contribute to, and work my arse off for.

Yah I like the Gators...but if a UT fan rubs it in that they beat me, I can just sit back and think "wow, you hero! Way to cheer for the winning team! You must be so proud! You did so much!"

Some people live vicariously through their sports teams. That's sad.

Get mad. Find a fan site of the opponent and sit around for hours doing nothing while the registration is accepted. By then I've already gone to sleep, read the boxscore and cursed out the rally killer, and gotten back from work to prepare for the next game. Then I rail against messageboard members for the pessimistic thoughts I shared 12 hours prior, or about the same time they had submitted their post.

Rinse and repeat.

i tend to stare at the tv for a while and get in a real bad mood for long periods of time. depends on how the loss happened though. after the heat lost in '99 to the knicks you could say i was in a depressed state. i just stared at the tv for a long while quietly. i was staring at the tv but i wasnt actually watching, than after a while i started throwing s*** and spent the rest of week in a really depressed mood. same can be said for 2000. same can be said for the dolphins loss to new england 2 years ago. it was the way they lost and all the expectations that i had which really hurt me. came close to tears but didnt.

the 2003 fiesta bowl was kind of different. i just kept focusing on the refs call in overtime and the long winning streak we had and bounced back pretty quickly. i really never got in a bad mood. after a few months passed though and i saw the highlights, thats when i really got angry.

02pac, dude that's kinda scary. It's just a team...it's just a game.

I don't understand why people let a team that they have no control over affect how they act the rest of the day in such a negative way.

I stew for like 30 minutes after the game, then I'm like, eh, it's just sports.

i dont get it either, i know i over do it sometimes but i cant help it. i actually feel connected to the teams somehow, i know im not the only one and ill admit that its weird. when they lose, i feel i lost and sometimes i might feel like if i didnt do one of my many superstitions that i contributed somehow even though i know thats not the case. i take it a little to seriously sometimes. ill admit it.

My brother is the same way, only with the Dolphins though. He hasn't been that bad this season though because I think he's expecting them to lose unlike past seasons.

depends. i really dont have any emotions over pro teams

now when it comes to college i REALLY get ticked of after a loss. especially carolina bball

For baseball I'm pissed for maybe 30 minutes after the game if the Marlins are up big and tehn blow it. Playoffs is a little different but usually don't get that mad.

Football is much different. Dolphins losing is depressing for two hours or so especially if it is a tough one then im pissed and stew over it for a while. Later that night I am fine or the next day.

Those are really the only two that actually bother me.

I have a friend who is going to game 7 tonight, but anyways huge Red Sox fan and last year he was a cocky bastard in Game 7 and was being a typical Boston fan and being a jerk. THen when they lost he was devastated. Got arrested for public intoxication and destruction of property about two hours after the game ended.

When the Marlins loose even a regular season game..or when one of the teams i want to win looses...it usually affects me for at least a day. I will dress according to how I feel. When my teams loose..i will usually be seen the next day with like t-shirt and jeans...or sweatpants even...but like yesterday and today since the sox won...and the sox and stros both won the night before..I wore skirts to school..I dunno its wierd. It puts me in a good mood and I express my moods with my clothes. :confused

I'm usually very frustrated. I'm lucky the Marlins won it all last year because I would've been devastated otherwise. After going down 3-1 I felt like I was gonna vomit the next morning. Haven't had too many heartbreaking losses this year, and being a Sox bandwagoner is great becuase I know it isn't the end of the world if they lose. (or should I type "loose" as every other kid on this board does?)

i remember leaving the stadium after game 4 against chicago feeling so depressed and exhausted and then sitting there before game 5 the next day feeling like i was going to cry when they put on that pregame video because i didnt want it to end. i was on the verge of tears around the 7th inning of the bartman game as well. thankfully it all worked out though.

the closer the game, the worse I feel

especially if the Marlins or Hoosiers blow it late
