PLEASE, don't leave. The Cubs organization is a mess. They would blame their poor play on you. We love you down here, you will never get the same respect up there. They are crooks, they hide murders, falling bricks and gernades buried in the field from the public. Please stay with the more respectable team. We love when you scream on a home run and an awesome play. The people up there would only tell you to tone it down and be more "classic". Len, you are by far the best play by play man in the game and unlike commentators for other clubs, when you call a Marlins game the watchers at home can just tell you care so much for this franchise. Your home run calls are spectacular, I don't know what i'd do if I had to watch Mike Lowell blast a homer and not hear your trademarked "MIKE LOWELLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! DEEP TO LEFT!!!!!!!!!!! OUTTA HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

 

When Lenny Harris beat Gagne, when Paul Lo Duca hit his first home run as a Marlin, when Lowell had his 3 home run game, when AJ struckout 15, you called all those games and you did so with such intense emotion. Unlike other commentators in the business that try to be fair and unbiased towards other clubs, it's so obvious that you're fully behind the Marlins 100%. Your unique voice is synonymous with teal, when you call games you put every ounce of energy you've got and all the emotion in the world into it, good times and bad times.

 

I'm also a Marlins season ticket holder (I have the 41 game plan) and I only wish that when I am at games with my radio, I could tune in to here you calling the game on TV, you're the voice of the Marlins.

 

If you are infact seriously looking into becoming the new play by plan man for the Cubs for whatever reason, just keep one thing in mind: you would not be able to be the same great Len Kasper that all the Marlins fans around the world know and love because when you're calling a Cubs game there is always that notion in the back of your head knowing that you could be fired or criticized in the media at any moment for saying the wrong thing against the Cubs. If Jack makes a horrible managing decision that costs the Fish the game, you and Tommy can criticize it all you want without fear of any backlash, but if Dusty Baker made a horrible managing decision you would not be allowed to criticize it because you would most likely be ousted very publicly in the media. The Cubs franchise uses their TV commentators as scapegoats every single year and I don't want to see that happen to you.

 

Len and Tommy go together like peanut butter and jelly, it would be unbearable to watch a game with Tommy but not you. The chemistry you have with Tommy is fantastic and that's something that simply cannot be replaced.

 

It wouldn't be right for me to type this entire post up without mentioning the fact that you're without a doubt a future hall of fame broadcaster. The Marlins already have a future hall of famer doing the radio, we need you for TV!

 

Just imagine all the great moments you would miss with the Marlins if you accepted the Cubs job. The Marlins fans, players, front office, season ticket holders, and anyone that's ever tuned in to watch a Marlins game before absolutely loves you.

 

Len, when you first came to this team and you were asked about it in the press, you said that it's a lifelong dream of yours, don't ruin that dream by going to the Cubs. Stick with the Marlins and in 20 years you could be a hall of fame broadcaster!

 

Now what i'm about to say is going to be a very compelling argument so brace yourself.... please don't go!

Joining ship at the beginning of the 2003 season, I have never experienced Marlins baseball without Len in the broadcast booth. I can't even imagine anybody else calling the play by play for Marlins baseball. Stay Len! :notworthy

The greatest play-by-play men in baseball all have one thing: tradition. Back when you worked with WTMJ in Milwaukee all you needed was a chance to prove your talent in the booth and you have done it here. In that same short 3 years you have been with us, you have become the voice to many of the Marlins.

 

Our television package may not include national coverage like WGN, but then again we don't have the announcers having to kiss up to the team and the front office. You have spent 3 years here, made a name of yourself, and won a World Series ring on the way. This team has a tremendous future and so do you. The Cubs are a team rebuilding, with a burnt out fanbase, and a front office who refuses to take blame for when things go wrong.

 

The option is yours obviously, but remember that you have family to worry about. The call is your and yours only. You deserve national exposure, but is WGN the right place?

I've been a Marlins fan since Day 1. Len Kasper is by far my favorite play by play broadcaster. John Gordon said it all in his previous post. You can feel the enthusiasm when Len calls the games. It's just different. I can still hear his voice when Lenny Harris hit that 3-run double off of Gagne in L.A earlier this year. Not to mention, Len and Tommy have to be the best duo in the broadcast booth.

 

Len - This group of people here (on this message board) don't usually agree on a whole lot, but one thing we can all agree on is that it will be a sad day in Marlins baseball if we have to say goodbye to the best play by play man in Marlins history.

Are they not rebuilding this offseason? A many Cubs fan has told me so. The fanbase is getting mad at the team over the bad PR moves that have occured dealing with the treatment of Stone. They are also mad that the players and coaches didn't take responsibility for failing.

As a life long fan of the Marlins living over a 900 miles away from Pro Player Stadium, the closest thing I can get to them is through television and radio. I have to say that it has been awesome to listen to you broadcast Marlin games. You put so much emotion into the game yet it isn't really blatant cheering for the Marlins like a Jim Mandich "ALLLRIGHT MIAMI" or DJ and Hawk for the White Sox which is what makes it so good.

 

I will never forget your call of the Paul Lo Duca home run. On what was kind of a somber day, the emotion was not there, yet with one swing of the bat everything was amazing again. You captured that moment perfectly and added onto it. I still get chills watching that clip and I've seen it a thousand times. In that same clip, shows how well you and Tommy work together. Not very often do you hear both announcers speak at the same time, but Tommy's "Ooooooooo" was great. The chemistry is definitely there. It seems as though you guys are so comfortable with each other.

 

It's your decision, and I understand why you would think about leaving. It's WGN, it's the Cubs, there is a certain prestige to being their announcer. They had Harey Carey. Who every Cub fan loved. That man is probably one of the most recognizable names in Cubs history. Well if you stayed you could be the Marlin's Harry Carey. Build your legacy here.

Len, Living in Philadelphia it's tough to catch Marlins games but I actually bought the MLB ticket package because of you. Every great call you made that stuck another dagger into the Phillies has given me great pride. I put you up there with Harry Kalas and maybe above since he's growing slightly senile. thats a bottle of bulls*** righ there... rebuilding? they still have a pretty good core of pitchers and still a very good offense... the fanbase isnt getting mad.... Im in the middle of Cub country and they all think they will win it all next year....
