When did you become a Marlins fan?

Featured Replies

When did you become a Marlins? I became a Marlins fan when I first to Florida in the summer of 1995.

CRAP, I accidentally posted this thread in the wrong forum. Can a mod move this thread to the main Marlins board?

Thanks

I didn't follow them very closely until 2002 when we were in first place for a week in late May.

Yeah, I was just a casual fan when I first moved to Florida and didn't really start following the Fish religiously and become a diehard fan until around 1999 or so, got my first season tickets in 2001.

I became a diehard in 2001 when they got real hot that April and May and then ate the floor the last 4 months of the season.

Been a diehard since I found out they existed, Opening Day 1993.

Ever since I knew there was a baseball team coming to South Florida!

I loved baseball even before 1993!

1985 - Aug. 8: Major League Baseball's new basic agreement permits the National League to expand by two teams to match the American League's 14.

Followed them since they showed off the teal back in 1991.

you were like what 3 years old then?

I had some Marlins stuff in 1993 when I was 6 but I can't claim to have been a true fan until the 1997 season when I was 10 and had lived in North Carolina for like 3 years.

Followed them since they showed off the teal back in 1991.

I know, but I still have the Marlins cup I drank my milk from every morning. It was from Pollo Tropical and has Billy on the side, the Marlins logo on the other side, a silver cup, and a teal top to make sure I don't spill it on myself.

I was 5 BTW.

Followed them since they showed off the teal back in 1991.

I thought he meant 1993. In 1991 I was 3, but we already had Marlins stuff in the form of hats and shirts.

i've been a fan even when i didnt understand baseball, i was in 1st grade and knew about the marlins and a few things in baseball but i didnt understand the "basics" i just loved sitting and watching the marlins play with my dad....i've loved them since and as i got older i learned all about it....and here i am still

diehard since '93

I started in the 2002 season, when I went to the stadium to get autographs with my cousin, so I started watching their games, and then became a diehard fan.

I've been a Marlins fan since they announced we were getting a baseball team. I remember going to the Orioles/Yankees exhibition series (can't remember where it was - Orange Bowl??). I think that 2 game series was played to really see if there was any interest in baseball in South Florida... Wayne Huizenga's picture back then was a nice one. Now, I throw darts at him.

1996 when I found myself checking CNN bottom line for updates. A lot of times the Marlins would be trailing but I was always sure they would come back. Then 1997 sealed the deal. I stuck around even after the firesale.

I was a fan since the beginning, I remember going to JRS when they were selling Inagural Day tickets, I got there at 5:00am with my cousin, and we were in line forever but it was great, we ended up getting like 8 tickets for the game and sat just under the 3rd base scoreboard. 2nd to last row, it was an amazing day, and Ive been a fan ever since, in 2002 I came out in the Herald sitting in the outfield (today known as fish tank) all by myself, and Kevin Millar catching a flyball in front of me, the caption said "all alone(almost)" it was awesome :D I went out and bought like 10 newspapers
