December 31, 200421 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...oenfield/041231 They are predicting future yankee players some fish made the list
December 31, 200421 yr Haha. Not too realstic though. I doubt a team with a rotation of : Willis, Beckett, Prior, Santana and Sheets And hitters of: V. Martinez, Cabrera, Beltran, Arod, etc Would finish in dead last.
December 31, 200421 yr now i hate the yankees, but i dont think its possible for them too end up with Beckett, willis, miggy, and finish LAST
December 31, 200421 yr hi-larious good stuff and it's good to be reassured that miggy can't leave until 2010
December 31, 200421 yr hi-larious good stuff and it's good to be reassured that miggy can't leave until 2010 645336[/snapback] He can leave after the 2008 season. This article was a JOKE. He wasn't being serious.

December 31, 200421 yr There is some question as to whether or not 2003 counts as a full year of service for Cabrera, since he was called up midway. This is probably the reason espn.com had him as set to join the Yanks in 2010, because they don't believe it will count as a full year.

In 2003 he played in half the games... does that count? It would be awesome for us if it didn't count... we'd have him one more year. What about D-Train? Would he qualify for a full year of service? He was around since May... does anyone know?

If it didn't, he'd have won the ROY award for 2004. He and Dontrelle both have TWO years of ML service time.
January 1, 200521 yr 2003 counted for Cabrera, but not as a full season. A player must have 6 full years from his major league debut to become a free agent. Stints on the DL and minor leagues do not count. Pavano had close to 7 years when he became eligible for free agency. Burnett will have 6.5, as will Cabrera.
January 2, 200521 yr Isn't that writer a Sox fan? The Yanks are a problem...but it's stupid to make them out to be the only party that is hurting baseball in this way.
January 3, 200521 yr Actually Fellas, the rules for ROY and for service time are different. For ROY he needs to have a certain number of at-bats to be eligible. For Service time it goes by complete years, 5. If a player is called up midseason then the clock starts ticking then, but he will not reach the 5 year point until the end of the year in which it rolls over to 5 years. This is a great question though, and I know the difference is becausethe rules for ROY is set-up by the writers association, and terms of service is a union issue.
