Mets Talk split from Delgado Thread

Ben... there's no point arguing with these guys. They still think Al is good, and because there aren't any name players in our bullpen... they think it sucks.

And I like how beinfest here says Kaz sucked for us... when he doesn;t realize how hot Kaz was right before he got hurt.

I've warned them about Al for months. They still think because he had a decent ERA he's still a good pitcher. Like I've said to them, they won't be so happy when he's walking the park and going 5 innings per start.

As for under-estimating the team, I could really care less if other teams consider us a threat. If they don't, that's their mistake.

Thats the same crap you were saying about benitez and he turned out fine.

I think the Mets have a good team. I'm worried about Beltran, Wright and Reyes.. Piazza is washed up.

Benitez wasn't about to turn 40 with no labrum in his pitching shoulder.

Pedro's labrum is gone too.

Actually... what we said was that he'll choike in Sept/Oct. You guys weren't playing important games then, so we'll never know.

Marlins2003, I believe it was you who said that Cameron is in the last year of his deal. He certainly is not!

and Marlinsmaniac... you chose the worst Mets forum in history. Any info you think you're getting from there, is nothing but 14 yr olds laughing with each other. Try NYSportsday of NYfansites for forums with SMART posters.

Pedro's torn labrum is assumed

Alois' torn labrum is a FACT

Pedro's labrum is gone too.

657585

Al Leiter's labrum troubles are proven and well documented. Pedro's "labrum problems" were the result of rumors started by Bostondirtdogs.com and Red Sox shills at ESPN like Jayson Stark. They were never actually corroborated by any doctor and he has since passed a full physical.

Sorry but that 4/56 deal with Pedro was just ridiculous.. and that's why you're the mets.

And your team is so cheap they can't resign their two best pitchers and try to make pretend Al Leiter is a suitable replacement. That's why you're the Marlins.

Yeah... but what you guys don;t understand is that the Mets

1.) Believe Pedro's effect goes beyond pitching, but reaches scouting as well

and

2.) The Mets can afford to overpay... it won't cripple them. It'd be a horrible deal if it did... but it didn't

and

3.) If he performs well for just three of the four years... it was worth it.

Hey, we knew Al's issue before you were itches in your Daddy's pants. Remember the Marlins traded him for AJ. Ha! He can have some long innnings. What you tend to forget is he is our #3 starter. Al is not going to make or break us like beckett and AJ. You can't tell me that you would rather have bensen under a multi year deal over Leiter in a one year deal.

The Mets will have much more talent next season than they had last year. Delgado is equally valuable to the Mets.

Yes, but despite our cheapness, we win World Championships. What have you got to show for all the money you spend?

 • Author

hey so is it good that the mets made it a 4-40 mill deal or bad for us

657599

Nothing really changes. The Mets offer the 4th year, which is good... but only offer 10 per which is bad

Either way... that link is from a very unreliable source, so it really doesn't matter.

We don't have an endless income like New York teams and most of the time, much unlike you guys, we are smart with how we spend our money. We have World Series to show for it. Congrats on the 1986 World Series though.. I bet that's still fresh in your mind.

I love analyists when they talk about the Mets.. They signed Pedro and Beltran.. but they're still the Mets.

gobucks,

have you watched Benson pitch? When he's on.. he's AMAZING. His problem is consistency and injuries. But at this point in their careers, him and Senator Al are a wash.

hey if it wasent for huizenga we would have a normal budget of like 80 mill not 60, we probaly would have a higher one than 80.

I won't say anything bad about the Mets... The fact that they sucked down the stretch last year doesn't mean anything. The 2002/2003 Marlins will tell you that...

If they end up with Delgado, that is a damn good lineup... If they can stay healthy, they will be a definite force to reckon with.. A full year from Wright, Reyes, and Matsui is good enough.. You add in a healthy Piazza (who I think is still one of the most dangerous hitters in the game) with Beltran and Delgado... you have a pretty good offense right there.

Smart how? By possibly paying a 40 year old pitcher 11 Mil next season or by paying Mike Hampton to pitch for the Braves?

Since when are we paying anyone 11 million? And the Mike Hampton thing actually saved us money... the new ownership and front office are genuises at making the most use of our financial resources. You all haven't placed higher than 4th in four years...

The Hampton deal is one of the biggest reasons we won a world series, so I don't think you'll hear any of us complaining.
