Nine teams have better odds than the Fish... Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, Angels, Mets (wha?!?), Giants, Cardinals, Padres and Cubs.

I think the odds makers are seriously overestimating the Cubs, Mets and Padres. The Cubs haven't done jack this offseason... and they lost two of their top three hitters. The Mets can't seriously be the favorites in the NL East. And Padres? I don't have any gripes with the rest of the list, though.

Marlins 8/1 to win the pennant while the Cubs are 2/1 and Mets are 4/1

I need to put money on the NL Pennant and World Series.

I was thinking the same thing. And I wanted to put some money down before they signed Delgado... I imagine the odds were more like 15/1 for the Pennant and 32/1 for the WS.

Cubs should not be 4-1 though they should have better odds than the Fish the Muts 8-1 Pedro Carlos and Menkevitch don't make you 8-1 favorites And the Padres 15-1 come on what have the Padres done this year that's just stupid

My updated for these three :censored :guillotine

Cubs 10-1

Padres 25-1

Muts 30-1 :thumbup

Remember that odds are not just a reflection of who the bookmaker thinks will win, but are calculated considering the actual amount of money staked on the teams by punters. We're a small market team - so not much money is placed on us. Basically, the more money bet on a team, the shorter the odds. Irrespective of that team actually having a chance of winning.

Bookmakers are in the business of protecting themselves against losses - not predicting the future.

I'm happy a thread like this got started. Some of you guys probably won't believe me, but in 2003 I made a $100 bet on the Marlins to win the World Series at 400-1 odds. I made the bet when they were wll under .500, but Willis had been brought up and although I still thought it was a long shot, I couldn't pass at those odds. Anyways, it was a nice pickup!

This year I was able to find them at 45-1. I already made a bet on them to win the world series again. The odds listed in the first post are most likely vegas odds, you can find better if you do some searching at sportsbooks on the internet.

I don't see what's so laughable about the Cubs.. they have the best pitching staff in baseball and still have a good offense with a solid core of Garciaparra, Patterson, Ramirez, Lee and Barrett.

just my opinion.. i think its funny that the mets have 8-1 odds
