from the HR Derby

it was AWESOME

in batting practice, Andruw Jones hit me a ball but i got mauled from all directions causing the ball to pop out of my glove

Luis Castillo hit a couple of bombs in BP

Mike Lowell hit 0 in BP

Rondell White was hitting moonshots....

the crowd loved Dontrelle...he was playing OF during bp, he almost got himself killed on a Preston Wilson line drive..... DW was pumping up the crowd and Preston hit a rocket at his head(in LF), Rockies pitcher Shawn Chacon came out of nowhere to save DW's a**

the derby was awesome, Bret Boone sucked big time, as did Richie Sexson

Jason Giambi single handidly brought the crowd to its feet in the 1st round

Pujols was amazing the 2nd round

thats the report!

Glad your back safe! And we gotta send Chacon a thank you card or something :p

You must have been bored as hell till Giambi was up.

Plus we have A Ramp spotting thread up, Why were you looking down when Shef hit his 4th?

the ballpark is awesome

good to hear, our new ballpark should be a done deal by December 1st 2003.

are you serious????????

are you serious????????

Pretty sure, the Marlins are talking much more seriously about big money ($100 million) than Henry or Wayne ever did. The only roadblock for the City of Miami is getting an assurance from the Marlins that they will pay the money.

I doubt Dade County will be involved at this point. Renaming the team is a big marketing demand and may shun many out of Dade fans. The money dade is to put up isn't that much anyway ($50 million at the most)

are you serious????????

...i think Cape means that the actual "DEAL" to build a stadium will be done....not the actual stadium...if thats what your wondering..(you sounded pretty excited) :lol

Correct, LCastillo.

Total Cost $325 Million

City of Miami pays $125-$175 million using land, taxes and/or bonds.

Remember that Skybox leases will help pay for the ballpark.

lol, i know he didnt meant it would be bulit by then, but to have the deal and to begin construction is key!, anything to mean the marlins stay in south florida!!!

So let me get this straight Ramp.... you had the Andrew Jones ball and you let a bunch of punk fans knock it away? I'm disappointed in you!

Now I want you to get out there and shag fly balls until you've shown you can play a consistent outfield for us. :mischief

In response to the Dec. 1 post....

the county needs to delegate the funds by that date......that's what 12/1/2003 means.

Did anyone else see Alex Fernandez in the Derby? He was there i saw him on the field a couple of times.

Oh i got fooled there! I thought it was for real because it usually takes 2-3 years to build it. :lol

No, December 1st is the deadline I say this will be a done deal by. It is my estimate for the ballpark being a done deal.
