My opinion on tonights game...

Recommended Posts

I watched tonights putdown of the Mutts on television. First of all, I will have to say that I like Rich Waltz already and think he will do well with Tommy. Alright now onto the game...

First of all Valdez was doing well until he hit the fourth inning. Was glad to see him get out of it. After that can't complain about any of the pitchers. All of them were absolutely flawless. Methinks Bump makes the team because he is pitching well...

Man this lineup still has firepower without Juanpy. Castillo did very well tonight in the leadoff spot. Conine hit a few balls well. Cabrera is scarier by the day. That one at bat where he drew the walk after like 15 pitches was amazing. Delgado's double was beautiful, but those K's don't have me worried at all since it is spring training. Lowell hit a few balls really well as well. Encarnacion was staying back the whole night and looked pretty good in his swings. The Sea Bass had a very nice triple. And Treanor had a nice single.

It was nice to see Difilice get a hit as well. As well as Aguila. The bench looks good except for Lenny. Unfortunately, I must now agree that its time for him to retire.

I really like that Korean pitcher from the Mets. He's going to be a good lefty specialist. And Petit is going to be a good pitcher. But other than that, Cliffy almost gave Willie a couple heart attacks there with his diving in the outfield.

I loved that ball Cabrera hit especially in the 4th inning I belive. The one he ripped like 450 feet down the left field line. That was pretty damn nice. Overall, I am really excited about what this lineup can do even without Juan Pierre and can't wait for the season to start.

I really liked how Valdez got out of the inning without giving up anything after the HP umpire called those two curveballs down the middle balls. Valdez was visibly mad after both pitches.

Theres another thing. That umpire's strike zone was smaller than a pea. I swear it had to be perfect.

Valdez is crap... he will be out of the starting rotation by May 15th

I'm telling you Bump should be given a look, his pitches had more movement tonight, than I had ever seen him have before. Another problem with Valdez is that he doesn't go deep into games, and with both him in Leiter in the rotation it's really going to wear out our pen. A young guy like Bump should be able to go deeper into games.

Coach Holick(Baseball Coach from FIU) told me that the main purpose of a hitting coach in the major leagues is for guidance. Players are already supposed to know what to do. I don't see why there is so much emphasis on these boards about taking out Bill Robinson. These guys are professional players, stop blaming it on their coaches. That's my 2 cents =]

I liked the game also. Valdez didnt do so well, but the offense proved to be better. Also, I like Waltz and I think we made a conclusion too soon. He was way better than last time. I loved when Delgado hit that 2 run double. If he was thinking homers he might not have done that. Miggy walked 3 times, that was also good.

It was great to see Delgado make some noise at the plate. The towering double he hit looked like it should have been caught, and I'm certain JP would have got it, but Calloway just couldn't quite get there in time. There was plenty of air time. The lefty Korean Woo really tore him up though. Delgado looked helpless against him....kinda like Thome against Perisho.

You do know that Thome owns Perisho, right? .940 OPS with a HR.

I think he's thinking of Tommy Phelps. I seem to recall Phelps owned Thome.

In two abs last year against Phelps, Thome was 0-2 with 2 ks.

In 2003, 0-3 1bb 2ks.
