April 8, 200521 yr Waltz will be fine. Sounds like there is no love for Len in Chicago as of yet... Here's a quote from Jay Marriotti's column today... They've hired a play-by-play automaton named Len Kasper, tamer than a friendly ghost by the same name. :lol
April 8, 200521 yr Did anyone hear what he called Juan Pierre? LOL he called him Willis. I think we should give him the marlins yearbook with all the players names and photos.
April 8, 200521 yr congratulations the 1,000 thread about rich waltz, but i did hear that too. I think you should post this in the game thread but nice ears

April 9, 200521 yr Wow, you guys are sad. The guy is only in HIS FOURTH GAME! How many of you were comfortable on your fourth day of freshman year in high school to do anything?
April 9, 200521 yr Wow, you guys are sad. The guy is only in HIS FOURTH GAME! How many of you were comfortable on your fourth day of freshman year in high school to do anything? 734445 7th game. I count ST.

Maybe you went to summer school in the summer before you entered 9th grade, but it still doesn't count. I don't want to hear anymore about him until well after the All-Star Break. Len was terrible to start because he had no ties to the players, Tommy, and he had no reason to be interested in the Marlins. Rich is progressing well. You can't expect him to show extreme emotion like Len when he knew nothing of the team before getting into camp during the spring. He spent around a decade in Seattle and did a damn good job.

April 9, 200521 yr I guess he knew tons about the Braves and Chpper Jones.? :plain 734468 Do you not know anything about the Braves Press Office and their Game Notes? opposing team puts out a report on their players for the broadcasters. Waltz has been using the Marlins one as well, but Tommy does most of the stuff on there anyways. You hate the guy for some reason, but he has been just as good as Len was at the same period in time in 2002. How about you shut up and watch the games? If you can't bear to tune in use the damn SAP button and listen to it in Spanish.
April 9, 200521 yr Author It has become MB.com tradition to make a new Rich Waltz thread every single night.

Len never sounded overly excited about the Braves getting runs and double plays. He's not Len and I don't expect him to be Len but don't sound more excited when the opposition is doing something against us. As far as I'm concerned the book is still open on him. Hey, maybe I'll like him in 3 months. How about I keep giving my opinion on him, after all this is a message board to voice your opinion. If you don't ike what I'm saying then stay out of the Rich Waltz threads.
April 9, 200521 yr I don't see the need for around 2 Rich Waltz threads a day! Wait until he gets his style in. Remember that he has never called for a home team before. His games on the CBC and ESPN had to be walking the centerline due to those 2 networks requirements. He is doing quite well. When he made that call he showed strong emotion, but it wasn't like he was happy. He didn't say "oh no" either, but he showed a somewhat disappointed tone in his voice. Chipper's homer was also in that tone. The only thing that somewhat bothers me is the NoCal accent he has. More time in Florida should cure that. Tommy used to have a SoCal accent back when he was on ESPN and when he started in 1997. He still does, but nowhere near as strong. Once he gets used to our local colloquialisms and pronounciations you will see his pace and emotion change.

April 9, 200521 yr Author Man, his call of Mike Lowell's home run was pretty lame. (in a regular voice) "Mike Lowell hits that one deep, and gone" If that was Len, he'd be screaming at the top of his lungs "MIKE LOWELLLLL........... DDEEEEEP TO LEFT............ OUTTTTTTTTTA HERRRRRREEEEE!!!!!!!!"
