April 8, 200521 yr About Jon Miller - he is excited for both teams when he announces because he is not a particular team's announcer. I want the guys who do our 162 Marlins games to be rooting very OBVIOUSLY for the "good guys" - that is the way it's done. 733455 He doesn't do Giants games anymore?
April 8, 200521 yr Let's all make up a Waltzism...I'll go first: "He opened his mouth and it wasn't closed anymore." "Some people like to use cars to drive to other places."
April 8, 200521 yr Author Let's all make up a Waltzism...I'll go first: 733636 "Chipper Jones is the greatest player on earth"

April 8, 200521 yr Umpa Lumpa sighting So much hate for Waltz 733649 :lol :lol :lol Pwned.
April 8, 200521 yr We should lay off Rich Waltz. Give the man a damn chance. If there is anything in this world that I hate more than anything it is people being unfair to other people that are trying hard. You all need to give him a break. Let's avoid an opinion until the middle of the season. He's not accustomed to being the Marlins' play by play announcer and so, obviously, he needs time to make the transition. If you have such an opinion on the man, why don't you call a game and let us all listen and give you our opinion on it. PM me if you think you're so damn talented and let me listen. Bitches. :plain

I just find it funny that sometimes he talks himself into a wall, and doesn't know what else to say. He'll learn how it works, and I'm sure Tommy will guide him. I did notice, though, that sometimes Waltz tries to play color commentator as well, and it leaves Tommy with nothing to say
April 8, 200521 yr If you all remember I was the first to comment (during the first ST TV game) about my dislike for his voice. I like him now. I mean, his voice isn't great, and it's still a little awkward, but he's just getting used to this team. He's a lot better than 80% of the garbage other teams throw out there.
April 8, 200521 yr ray liotta and rich waltz they are so god damn the same 733781 i would say to them, you want ice cream cone, they both say yes..how in the hell? that looks like david hasslehoff
April 8, 200521 yr Would you guys rather listen to the play by play man from the Braves? Now that guy is boring as hell. I dont think ive ever heard him be enthusiastic.

April 8, 200521 yr I've enjoyed his play by play calls so far, but this quote from last night left me a little..... "The Braves take the series 2 games to 3".

I dont think ive ever heard him be enthusiastic. 733971 Sutton? Anyway, let me further stress--I do not dislike Waltz. I am merely ridiculing his continual use of unnecessary comments. I do attribute that to his newbieness, but I can still mock him if I want. I have noticed that his confidence is growing with each game, and I'm sure that we'll all grow to love him. A few pointers: 1) Don't fade your voice at the end of statements. It's a common mistake in speech, and it can be very annoying to the listener. Keep the same tone throughout your dialogue, and be confident--the listener will notice and appreciate. 2) Don't use cliches. I've seen too many broadcasters undone by their continual use of overplayed comments. I'm no expert, but I'd guess that cliched speech is quite common among novice commentators. 3) Use your color analyst to your advantage. Rather than trying to do too much, just stick to your play-by-play calling, and allow Tommy to control the tempo of the analysis. For the past three games, I've noticed that you tend to step over your 'boundary' and inadvertently steal some of his thunder, leaving him without anything to comment on for a segment. Good luck, Richie!

April 8, 200521 yr I dont mind Waltz one bit but he does make a few mistakes once in a while. Last night when the line ups were shown he said..... This is the line up that Jack has for tonight or something like that. But the Braves line up was shown not the Marlins. :confused
April 8, 200521 yr Give me the White Sox duo :plain To be honest I just want a bunch of homers calling the games
