Why dont the Marlins go after...

Featured Replies

Why dont the Marlins go after Brian Giles or Jason Kendall ? the pirates r trying to get rid of them both.. so maybe if we talk to them they will give us one... and remeber Kendall can play LF... y not this...

TRADE

Pirates get : Todd Hollandsworth , Mike Redmond , Brian Banks

Marlins get : Jason Kendall , Cash

Dont Trade Hollandsworth

he's getting to be a badass...hitting the ball real well...to me, he could be our bat off the bench...and spend more money on a good arm.

Why would the Pirates trade Kendall for 3 old bench players. :lol

You should see what the Oakland A's are offering for Giles. They are reportedly offering several top-notch players, including prospects, for a total of 4-5 players. In any case, the Pirates won't give up Giles easily, and I honestly don't believe we can afford to give up the players they would be asking.

thats a great deal

Jason Kendall C PIT Signed Nov 2000 - 6 years/$60M

2002: $6.0M (+$4.0M signing bonus, half deferred without interest)

2003: $8.0M

2004: $8.0M

2005: $10.0M

2006: $11.0M

2007: $13.0M

-$0.5M each year deferred with interest -Includes complete no-trade clause

-Possible $475K each year in award bonuses (added to next year's salary)

maybe we can trade for Chan Ho Park and Albert Belle's contract too

hey GM...u should take Hollandsworth out of your sig for the moment

he's doing really well now :mischief

Yeah, i remember it, I was just reminding him about it. In addition, there's no way we'll trade for Kendall. Last I checked, we have Pudge, and Kendall signed a large contract last year I believe, which Ramp showed us. It would make no sense at all. I don't see Kendall going anywhere this year.

No if The Marlins want a good bat they should go after

Barry Bonds!

The Marlins Get: Barry Bonds, Cash

The Giants Get: Todd Hollandsworth

:p , Sorry I had too...

Pudge, It's not a total bad deal but The Pirates are not going to pick up all that money with those kind of players.

yea...maybe if the Giants front office is run by...Autistic Chimpanzee's :p

There is no chance well get Kendall, and most likely not Giles since the Pirates want to deal them together. The Pirates want to unload Kendall's contract and we can not take that on.

i dunno , cuz the Pirates are doing anything to trade him away

we cant offer anything close to what the A's are giving up and thats just 4 giles and no kendell included..... we dnt need kendell anyways...

we dnt really need a Bat..... we are good as we are i heard we were going after David Weathers im all 4 that

well than get David over here already.. and yes 1 LF will help us alot !!! maybe if we get White... David and White would help us alot !

i thought they were more after Juan.... KC looks like Contender and not a pretender... i cant belive i was like "WHY DID SWEENY RESIGN with them, now i know he had faith in them, just like we do with teh fish".

I think you guys have pretty much established reality, we are not getting Giles. In fact, I think that we are now not going to get another bat for the stretch run unless it is an insanely good deal. Guillen may be our best hope and best fit, we could give up some solid young pitching for him (Wayne, Neal, Vlad Nunez, Grilli, etc.) without giving up our gems (Levinski, Hutchinson, Bautista, etc.). With Griffey going down that may not happen though.

I think that it is good we are not giving up the farm to get another bat. I think we can and should win with the team we have. I know that there will have to be some cost cutting, Castillo and Lee are probably certainly gone after this season. But for the most part, we have a good enough team to be competitive and try and win - we may come close but not quite make it. If we did add a quality bat, our chances do increase but I think the cost is just too high for this franchise right now. We just have to improve and show we are committed to winning, next year we can make a bigger step in that direction. But who knows...?

Reds will look to unload Guillen, especially with Smitherman tearing up AA ball and the fact that Guillen is a FA at years end.....

he hit #20 tonight..... man that would be sweet to plug him in the 5,6, or 7 hole of our lineup

hell id give them their choice of Wayne, Grilli, Bridges, and Neal---take 3

Apparently the Pirates will force whoever wants Giles to take on Kendall and his fat contract too. Gammonds seems to think the Padres might do it. They'd love Giles & if Pitt throws in some cash for Kendall it might be workable.

I been asking for this guy since the beginning of the season and I hope the front office is thinking samething.Yo ramp or anyone that knows how much are we looking at for Guillen 2004 salary after arbritation if he is traded to the Marlins?

but guillen has expressed that he wants to go back to the pirates next year, i dunno if that has changed, either way, it doesnt bother me, i want to rent him for the second half of this year, he'd be a very welcome, and a very nice addition, damn, 20 more HR in the line up, he could prob hit 15 more before the year is up, especiall with substantial playing time, something he is not guaranteed in cinnci, atleast not before griffey went down, hey, is guillen a pull hitter?? anyone know? ramp?
