QuickGold
Yahoo! Sports Game Preview Bobby Abreu hopes to carry the momentum of a strong weekend into a place where he struggled last season. Abreu brings his red-hot bat into Pro Player Stadium as the Philadelphia Phillies open a three-game series with the Florida Marlins. After starting the season in a 1-for-12 slump, Abreu heated up in a weekend series with St. Louis, going 7-for-17 with a homer and three doubles. Now Abreu must try to produce in a park where he hit .222 with just one RBI and four runs scored in 10 games last season. It was part of the Phillies' overall struggles in Miami, where they lost seven of 10 games. For his career, Abreu is hitting .298 with 45 runs scored and 29 RBI in 62 games at Pro Player Stadium. Florida dominated Philadelphia in 2004 by winning 11 of the first 12 meetings, including the first seven at home. The Phillies won six of the last seven matchups late in the season with both teams virtually eliminated from contention. Philadelphia has broken out for 23 runs and 31 hits in winning its last two games. Pat Burrell upped his major league-leading RBI total to 15 with a three-run homer and Abreu added four RBIs in a 13-4 win at St. Louis on Sunday. ``Yesterday and today we showed we can hit and we can win some games,'' Abreu said. ``The way we're playing right now is the way this team is supposed to play.'' The Marlins have outscored their opponents 31-9 and have a team ERA of 1.07. Despite those gaudy numbers, they have split their first six games. All three of Florida's wins have been shutouts. Josh Beckett fired a five-hitter and struck out 11 in an 8-0 win over Washington on Sunday.
