Peter Gammons is doing is usual Tuesday segment on Boog's radio show.

Someone asked him about the ballpark and possible cities to move the team to and he had interesting things to say. He said MLB will not stop the Marlins from moving outta Miami. BUT he said that the only viable city on the map to move the team to is Las Vegas. He believes the A's will be moving to Las Vegas within 2 or 3 years. Then he stated the next place a team would've gone is New Jersey, but thanks to Bud Selig paying Peter Angelos off for no reason, New Jersey is off the list. NJ is off the list because MLB would have to pay off the Yankees, Mets and Phillies and that will never happen.

He said the Marlins stadium issue is the weirdest story he has seen from afar in his career.

He is right on. The Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Giants, D'Backs and A's all hold claim to Las Vegas. If the A's move there, it will be the easiest.

However, I don't think anymore teams will relocate before 2025.

i don't think they can physically do it...i think out of all cities in the country, las vagas is the least ideal for a professional baseball team. gambling, girls and drinking...imagine if Pete Rose played in Las Vagas

Sounds a lot like south Florida....

Miami Beach...

The Indian Casinos...

NJ has casinos and the like, and they are not that far from NY.

At least the stadium hasn't goin away like it did before, like when Hanry owned the team.

Hey, as long as the A's have Vegas, we HAVE to stay in Florida. Relocation wouldn't be an option, contraction wouldn't be an option... The new stadium would be the best option for this team.

But Vegas is the only place in the country with a sports book. Sports betting generates tooooo much money. If a MLB team were to move to Vegas than casinos would not be allowed to take action on MLB games. Casinos wont allow a MLB team to move to Vegas. Casinos run Vegas.

Who is Gammons to comment on this subject? Like he said, he is seeing this story from A FAR. He has no substance in this story. He should say I dont know, because he doesnt know anything.

MLB will compromise. I am willing to put money on the table that LV will get a team within the next 5 years. If it's not the A's maybe the Twins or Marlins. Even if they don't get any of these three teams MLB will surely expand to Las Vegas.

The weridest? haha right

Marlins won't be moving anytime soon

Write this down somewhere so you can reflect back on it in the future. Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Williamsburg will be in the running for an East coast team. Maybe Vegas for a western division. Maybe New Orleans for a central.

There are no more teams heading to the Virginia/Maryland area.

New Orleans can't support a basketball team very well, it's football team isn't exactly top of the food chain, and it's supposed to get a baseball team now? Meh.

People talk like Vegas is the only place you can gamble

I don't think so, I think Norfolk their chance with the Expos. I'm not really sure about New Orleans. The NBA and NFL seem like they want to leave.

Cities that can get team in future:

Las Vegas

Charlotte

Portland

San Antonio

Indianapolis

Tokyo as crazy as it sounds would be a great place to put a team.

Norfolk/Va Bch is 4 hours from D.C.

Yes those plane trips would be great too!

You'll see the NBA in Europe before see the MLB in the far east.

The owners will do anything for money when all the major cities in North America have a team and there is no other place to go.

Mexico, Puerto Rico, DR, etc etc. A lot closer, and I kinda think they like baseball too.

Maybe I should have mentioned that this area is steadily moving up the TV market rating scale. Besides Selig should not make the people mad who have the aircraft carriers etc.

None of those cities will support 81 home games. DR WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY? They make less than the cost of an average ticket a month. Mexico is the same situation. Puerto Rico has already proved it won't support a team when they can't sell half the seats for 21 home games in a 15k? capacity stadium.

I think you need to go check your numbers and fast...

Also what kind of draws did the last place Marlins draw in Miami?

In 2003, when they Expos were pretty decent, they filled up the stadium nicely, they got a heck of a lot more people there then they did in Montreal. I don't see why you think a club no one wants would be a draw anywhere.

Just because you give a hungry man who hadn't eaten in 3 weeks and you offer a rancid piece of meat, it doesn't mean he'll eat it.

In 2000 the Marlins finished 3rd in the division and drew on average 15,134 a night.

In 2003 the Expos finished 4th in the division and drew on average 14,222 in Puerto Rico. Seems to me PR fans aren't much worse than Miami fans potentially.

The Expos played 22 home games in Puerto Rico and averaged 10,455. Estadio Hiram Bithorn's capacity is 18,000.

A team no one wants? The Expos had DC, Las Vegas, Norfolk, Charlotte, Monterrey, San Juan and Portalnd after them. I wouldn't call them unwanted. You play 22 home games in one of those American cities in a stadium the same capacity you'd have a sellout every night.

But the Marlins played 81 home games. The Expos played 22 home games in PR. Two totally different situations.

The average family in PR doesn't make enough money to support a franchise long term.

Puerto Rico has already proved it won't support a team when they can't sell half the seats for 21 home games in a 15k? capacity stadium.

So wait PR could sell out their games? So then I guess that means PR could also house a team.

Thanks for proving my point.

I mean here you are arguing that San Juan can't host a team then you say you put a team there that they will sell out every night... did I miss something or did the Expos not sell out every night?

I think your Fantasy Baseball reign is taking too much brain power from you.
