Encarnacion Is Red Hot!

Featured Replies

Remember that article I posted about Encarnacion and his bat returning to normal after his grand slam in the season opener versus the Braves? You all thought that he would slide like Alex Gonzalez. Well, Encarnacion is returning to his old RBI machine type hitter again. He is tied for the most doubles in the National League and has a .294 BA with 2 HR and 14 RBI. These are pretty damn good numbers for someone who hit .235 with 16 HR and 66 RBI the previous season. I like his swing and believe he will be the key piece of our offense this season. He will continue to drive in runs like wildfire. What are your opinions now?

Over coffee this morning I decided to start my day with a little trip down memory lane - searching the forum's archive for "Encarnacion sucks", Encarnacion stinks"..."crap"..."trade:..."bum"..."worthless", etc.

While it's too early in the season to pronounce his resurrection a success, there sure must be alot of crow being eaten around the breakfast table this morning.

Did I just hear someone say "pass the salt"?

It's April and we all know that stats from April are meaningless. That being said, I'm happy to see Enc off to a good start.

I'm sure you'd think different if he were batting .180 with 0 HRs and 4 RBIs in April.

Also, last I checked, 1 HR in April still counts the same as one in September.

I'm an Encarnacion fan, never bashed the guy like others here, but let's remember that Hee Seop Choi had a pretty big April last year, and we know how his season ended.

It's way too early to predict anything.

Difference is, that Encarnacion have proved he can perform and has performed before

I'm in agreement with Maverick, contract year

Encarnacion is doing really well thus far. I would be ecstatic if he drove in 95-105 runs this season. I am sure Miggy will get his 115-120, Delgado 110, Lowell 95-100... we could really have four 100 RBI men.

Ive bashed this guy a couple of times and it's always because he has never really fullfilled his potential,This season so far he is doing a great job at the plate and on the field, hopfully he will keep it going driving in those runs. The only bad thing about this is that it keeps niner on the bench.

May the best guy get the most playing time.

The fact that Enc has sucked, received undue gifts for looking like a ballplayer and probably won't be a Marlin past this year makes it easy not to get swept up in his accomplishments this year.

But he has improved. He's making better contact with the long forceful swing we always knew he had. I'm glad he has chosen a year when he was with the Marlins to do this.

Not to mention he has 7 walks already which is pretty amazing considering it is him. His career average is 37. I think he is on pace to double that.(Assuming he can keep it up)

Well anyways ride this hot streak and keep him in the 5 spot until he goes cold.

I expected Encarnacion to have a breakout year, and so far he is delivering.

Last year's poor performance was mostly due to a nagging shoulder injury.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Encarnacion ends up better than Lowell at the plate. Not saying it will happen, just that I wouldn't be surprised as I'm expecting Lowell to disappoint.

contract year

he does pick convenient years to put up good numbers doesnt he?

undue gift? Is not his fault that Conine got injured during the offseason (on non baseball related activities) and wasn't ready.

I rather see Enc out there, which so far is providing the right offensive and defensive balance. There is no way Conine will match Enc Defense on RF.

I'm not complaining but you can't look at April stats and assume the guy is gonna have an unbelievable year. Plenty of guys get off to great starts in April and then fizzle out long before the season ends (see Hee-Seop Choi).

Even though ENC is doing well, I still want to trade him and there's no better time than right now when his value is at an all-time high.

Im glad end is playing well. But I still think we should trade him, AND the fact that its a contract year is irrelevant. Its not like a player has any control of his performance in a contract year as opposed to any other year. You might say he works harder but then you have to assume that this player doesnt care about winning, b/c someone who wants to win plays equally hard contract year or not.

If we are out of it by the trade deadline, yes. Otherwise moving him for 9ner is a pretty big downgrade if Enc keeps this production up.

Everyone was bashing him before the season and look at him now. Playing with a lot of confidence. He is doing great but can he keep it up? My guess is no, but i think he will have a very good year for his standards.

They play better because it's high pressure. And the key motivator is the green.
