marlin2266
Hear me out. At this point, Carlos seems to be a latter-day version of DLee. Sure, he's piled up decent stats overall, but at clutch time late in the game, he seems to disappear. The only key "difference-making" hit late in a game that I can recall is Carlos going yard to extend (ATL?) before we lost in extras. He seems most productive in those cluster-run innings, where he singles or doubles in the middle of a 4 run inning. Sure, I know I've gotta build a tolerance for a guy who's going to strike out a lot, & he's certainly gotta have time to adjust to NL style pitching, but I'm getting that "DLee feeling" every time he comes to the plate with the game on the line in the eighth or ninth. Not a hater here - just a little disappointed so far. Anybody else feel this way??

Fish Tank Frenzy
Do you remember when Carlos tied the game with a HR in the bottom of the 9th inning? Carlos has been smashing the ball. He only has two homers, but those will come. He is hitting doubles and is getting on base.
Flying_Mollusk
Judge him at the end of the year. He is one ferocious tear away from changing your mind. Youre right in that he hasnt been that great with runners in scoring position but its still way too early.
Guest Juanky
Carlos Delgado, 2005 Close And Late- .429/.600/.857, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 6 TB Inning 7+- .300/.440/.500, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 4 BB, 10 TB Runners On- .294/.375/.324, 0 HR, 7 RBI, 4 BB, 11 TB It's not Delgado's fault other teams rather pitch to somebody else. Heckeroo
just cause he's not hitting home runs doesn't mean he isn't being successful
TSwift25
The teams we've played so far (Reds aside) are playing such a ridiculous shift against him that unless he hits against the shift, it's either a single a homerun or an out... His production is fine, it's not his fault that no one wants to hit for power around him, not to mention get on base with consistency. Snake Eyes
he's doing good enough, the hr's will pile up soon. everytime this guy hits the ball he hits it hard
JJ24
Every time we lose there is a thread about who your worried about, and how they are playing, injurys that you think that they have or your personal suggestion for that player.Guys get in your heads that we will lose at least 60 times this year. ToadLicker
If he'd just push a bunt up the 3rd base line occasionally, that wicked shift would have to fade some.
MarlinFan10
OMG why doesn't Delgado have like 100 homeruns by now? :o
Accord
Anybody else feel this way?? 754678 Nope. Regarding the shift, when we signed Delgado and there were 50 articles written everyday about him, everyone always talked about how he is one of the greatest opposite field hitters in the game and he can take the ball the other way whenever he wants. Well if this is true, why doesn't he just hit through the massive gap between 2nd and 3rd?
MarlinsChik305
Oh, please. Not every player is Barry Bonds(:-D). Carlos will contribute here and there. He wasnt called the biggest aquisition for nothing.
Randy Rhoads
Yep i agree, we should trade him or put Lenny Harris at first. He would be an improvement

The Folklegend
We're still on course to win 93 games at this rate, guys. And that's without really having a consistent offense. This trip to Colorado may be just the thing to get the team on a roll.
Skully
There are so many sarcastic people here, I feel like throwing up.. Anyways, I kinda get what you're saying dude... But it's way too early. Remember, in 2003, Pudge started off slowly and was actually bumped down to 6th in the batting order. It takes these guys some time to adjust to a new league. I'm not worried about Delgado at all. You don't sound to worried either, but when he comes up to hit, don't think D-Lee. At some point, he's gonna turn it on and there will be no looking back.. D-Lee is hitting about .400 right now, by the way...
vickimints
anyone delgados intro song? that he has now?
Guest Juanky
Well if this is true, why doesn't he just hit through the massive gap between 2nd and 3rd? That isn't possible when you get thrown at inside man. You can't go opposite way with a pitch on your hands effectively.
zzdunlapj
It seems like if a guy isn't hitting 1.000 with runners in scoring position or late in the game, then people don't think he's clutch....face it, every player 'chokes' more than he succeeds in those situations in the long run... Marlins2003
If he'd just push a bunt up the 3rd base line occasionally, that wicked shift would have to fade some. 754740 Delgado's problem isn't just the shift but the way opposing pitchers are pitching him, which is down and inside, taking away his chance to hit to left field or as you'd like to see, bunt down the third base line. You have to give teams so far this season credit for much more aggressvely going after Carlos and trying to contain him. In spite of it all he's still batting .300 with pretty good stats in other categories (although HRs are less than we as fans might have expected). PBMarlin
Look at tonight. He stroked two balls down the left field line. Carlos has a sweet swing and is showing he can hit to all parts of the field. He isn't just swinging for the fences.
