Dusty is getting blamed hard for this one..

If indeed Fox is your closer why on god's green each is a guy coming off arm problems, coming in on back to back games when your team is up 10-3?

Wuertz pitches .1 IP - I think he should be their closer honestly.

Leicester (sp) - Didnt pitch. He could have.

Hawkins - Pitched the 8th, why not let him go in the 9th..

Fox wasnt pitching good at all and Dusty leaves him in.. a few pitches later there goes his arm.. He leaves the game..

Remlinger comes in and gets the next 2 outs..

Eh, it's the Cubs so this isnt anything new to me..

poor Fox, he's a good guy, hate to see all this happen to him

Im with you on that. Fox is a good guy, I remember hearing a story about him, that when he got his WS ring he was driving around the PPS parking lot hanging out with fans and showing off the ring. Thats awesome, not many players would do that.

I love Foxie i feel bad for him and I hope he gets better, he's just one of those guys that you love i'll never forget him running off the field with that fist pump it gives me goosebumps everytime i think of it.

all those articles Fox wrote during the playoffs about the marlins and how much he loved the team got to me too. You could just tell he loved the team he was playing with and it's a rare to see a player say things like that about there team like he did. To bad he was too injury prone to hang onto for us, but i hope he gets better soon, and i really wish all these injuries didnt happen to him

Chad Fox could be Out for Year

Reliever Chad Fox suffered an elbow injury after throwing a pitch to Jason LaRue during the ninth inning, and he left the mound holding his right arm. Early indications are that Fox, who was designated as the primary closer Sunday, will have to undergo elbow surgery and miss the rest of the season.

LaTroy Hawkins, in his first game back as a setup man, pitched a scoreless eighth, leading the way to Fox. After serving up a three-run homer to Adam Dunn and issuing a walk, Fox's elbow gave out, forcing manager Dusty Baker to look for yet another option as the Cubs' closer.

"To see [Fox] and Nomar [Garciaparra] on the field in so much pain the last week or so, you don't want to see anyone in so much pain," Prior said. "When things creep up like this, it's frustrating. It's just tough."

Ouch!!

Very unfortunate. Foxy is a good guy.

I think it's time he hangs them up though. He had a good career and he got a ring, now it's time to walk away. Thanks for the title Foxy, without you we wouldn't have won the title or probably even made the playoffs in 2003.

Poor guy can't catch a break. It's too bad too, he really looked like his old self in the few games I saw him pitch this year, he could have told guys his slider was coming and I think they still would have swung through it.

Good guy, good career, and the unsung hero of our 2003 team, I echo everyone's sentiments that without him, I have a hard time seeing us make the playoffs...

Gosh, seeing his arm go out on him honestly brought a tear to my eye. This guy's had three elbow surgeries, TWO of those being Tommy Johns! He knew if it went out on him again it would probably be it for his career, and yet he went through the rehab to give it another shot anyway. In 2004, he took a discount to re-sign with us even though his hometown team, the Astros, made him a similar contract, because of the loyalty he had to us for believing in him during 2003 after the Red Sox released him. Truly a good guy, a warrior, and I wish him nothing but the best.
