Drop Delgado?

Featured Replies

Why don't we drop Carlos Delgado to the 5th spot in the order and see what happens?

Make it something like this

1-Pierre

2-Castillo

3-Encarnacion

4-Cabrera

5-Delgado

6-Lowell

7-Lo Duca

8-Gonzalez

9-pitcher

my explanation is that castillo and pierre as legit lead off hitters are always going to give the pitcher a hard time, add the new and improved patient encarnacion and u got a head ache for the opposing pitcher, which can be enough for Cabrera, Delgado, Lowell, and then Lo Duca to tear up right after, what do you think, it's an idea, and I like what I see on paper, can we really put this into play in an actual game?

By the way, it's "You're"... :whistle

I've read worse ideas here.

That said what we have right now seems to be working, let's file this idea for future consideration depending on how Enc, Lowell and Delgado do on this roadtrip. There is some merit to it.

You don't pay a guy $52 million and have a thread about moving him down in the line-up. Delgado could be batting clean-up though. Your topic is stupid. :ban

you are topic is stupid????

i don't think so. ihe had it right.

Actually, the original post was

Your stupid. :ban

I pointed out the forum guideline (and the grammar), and he completely changed the meaning of the post, from a personal insult to what you see now.

And back to the original topic, I don't think I would bat Encarnacion quite that high. It is encouraging that he is producing out of the 5/6/7 slots (where we haven't had too much since Lowell and Gonzalez are stuggling). I think we have a better balanced lineup when Encarnacion is in the bottom half to pick up some of the slack.

Why the would we drop Delgado in the lineup? The offense was anemic with him batting cleanup, when we moved him UP in the lineup to the 3-hold the offense really picked up well. No sense in moving him down to 5th.

I fully support your right to be a jerk. :)

I would love it if once in a while delgado would lay down bunts down the third base line. It'll mess with the shift so much that opponents will go nuts. I know that everytime hes up there theres a potential for an extra base hit, but wouldnt it be sweet if he would butn to that side, i mean the way they shift on him sometimes a one legged man could beat out the bunt.

Yeah hey thread starter just so you know we are, 6-2 since moving Delgado to the 3 spot so STFU

I don't appreciate the stupid comment, but anyway I thought it was a good idea since ENC has been more patient. 52 million or not, the top of the order needs to consist of contact, cabrera is proven at the 4th spot, delgado in the fifth spot can do what Andrew Jones does for the Braves.

I'm agreeing with you here. When (not IF, WHEN) Delgado catches fire he can move back up to 3rd/4th...
