July 27, 200323 yr Here ya go. http://boards.espn.go.com/cgi/mlb/request....b_sdg&id=173155 I hope this is not true. Castro is one of the my favorite Marlins and we are going to need him once Irod leaves. Also Cabs has been great. His bat is finally coming around and we all know how strong his arm is. Don't like this deal at all if it's true.
July 27, 200323 yr You never know, maybe Pudge will still want to stay here, especially if we keep winning. It isn't impossible that we can come to some sort of agreement. If not, we can dig into the Free Agent Pool for a catcher at season's end. Right now, I don't care that much, because we're tearing things up, and playing to win.
July 27, 200323 yr This is not true. I'm sure they wouldn't give up Whie so cheap, either. But I want Castro, damnit. I'll be on Beinfest if he makes this...
July 27, 200323 yr Any deal involving Cabs is a no go. Admin is not going to trade our biggest prospect player who is producing for anybody. Now Ramon Castro and Blaine Neal for White is probably too much and not true, unless there are other factors (cash/prospects)
July 27, 200323 yr The Mighty 1090 AM in San Diego is going to be the flagship radio station of the San Diego Padres for the 2004 season. Currently, they are on KOGO.

July 27, 200323 yr This trade will not happen. Admin doesn't want to change this team. The media are the only ones who believe this team needs the trade. Admin won't do it.

July 27, 200323 yr The media are the only ones who believe this team needs the trade. And they had good reason to believe so. About 3 days ago...
July 27, 200323 yr Guys this "COULD BE" true, I was told that if the Marlins got to two or three games out of the WC they would pull the trigger on this trade. C Josh Willingham is back(Marlins's top catching prospect) and Pudge has been telling his friends "IF" the free agent market doesn't offer a multi-year contract(alot of zeroes). he'll sign another 1 yr deal with the Marlins. remember there will be two All-Star catchers on the market Pudge and Javy Lopez, so anything could happen.
July 27, 200323 yr so if this trade goes thru, i guess it will be a 'wait and see' with Pudge and our catching situation for next year
July 27, 200323 yr after the way beinfest has conducted transactions it's difficult to believe he would trade his next year's potential #1 catcher AND a decent MLB prospective reliever for White. My guess is its more disinformation than anything else although (stoking the fires) White is not in the lineup today. plus, how do you take Cabs out of this after all he has contributed? I posted in the game thread I thought it was Jack using the FO to light a little fire under the kid's butt. I still think so. unless lowell winds up being traded you are looking at our left fielder for the next five six seven years and I'm d*mn happy about it.
July 27, 200323 yr Remember Cabs hits very well at home but on the road its a different story. Remember this is still a "KID" and R. White is a vet. and with the NL west D-Backs coming it would be a smart move.
July 27, 200323 yr I dont understand the Marlins shouldnt trade Castro. He still has alot of potential and we would be better off trading Redmond even though he has been a very solid player his whole Career. The Marlins should consider trading Redmond....

July 27, 200323 yr i have no prob. with rondell white coming off the bench i dont think he will have a prob. coming off the bench. i mean he would be coming from the worst team in the nl to a team in the middle of the pennant race. trade for white and send down banks
July 27, 200323 yr Tune into the station who aired the rumor: Mighty 1090 in San Diego. http://www.mty1090.com/listen.html I can't tune in cause I'm listening to the Dodgers game, but someone tune in and give us updates.
July 27, 200323 yr its a good deal. a deal that is needed. worry about next year when next year gets here. find a servicable catcher until willington is ready. or use a redmond/trenor(sp) platoon next year. not a big deal. right handed relievers are a dime a dozen.
July 27, 200323 yr What Would Happen to Willingham if we dont deal Castro? would he back up Castro if Pudge isnt Resigned?

White is a vet. and with the NL west D-Backs coming it would be a smart move. The great thing about that is, most people DON'T hit good at home, meaning the Pro. Imagine how good/great Cabs will be this kid will be if he can hit on the road as well... :w00t :shifty

If the deal is made so be it, I still find it hard to believe that the FO make such a trade and then compound it by keeping Fox over Cabrera since Cabrera has proven to be a better hitter with more pop and plays the left side of the infield as well as Foxy. What the h*ll is going to learn in Albuquerque except how to hit crumby PCL pitching? My two cents.
