From tonight's game, it looked like he wasn't getting the same well-timed jumps he was getting in LF last year.

He gets the job done despite his lack of speed and flexibility. He catches the ball. He won't get to all of the ones that Juan does, but he's a hell of a lot better than Cabrera in right (though that's not saying much, haha).

I don't think Hammer would look all that good or better than Niner in RF, especially after catching the last few seasons.

He made 3 gold glove caliber plays last night, and showed a lot of effort on D... something we don't see much from our regular RF.

I agree. And with more starts Niner will get into the groove hitting.

Was he getting bad jumps? Making routine plays look like web gems? Dunno. I want Willingham out there anyway. Move Enc to center.

No they were terrific plays, one of them was the #2 on ESPN's top plays on Sportscenter even.

You'd say that if the question was "How does Luis look at 2B to you" :p

Not that he didn't get the job done and didn't make some nice stabs at the ball, but he seemed a little slow off the bat. It didn't hurt and he was able to get to every ball (he's pretty fast anyway). Just noticed it last night, and some recent highlights for opposing teams, suggest he's not entirely comfortable at the position. Niner's a good guy and hard worker, it shouldn't take him long to adjust the position. Certainly shorter than golden boy in the other corner outfield spot.

no question he gave 110% out there, but those plays looked like that because he wasn't getting the jumps.

I agree it did look like he was getting some bad jumps but he did make 3 great plays and his was able to catch up to all the balls. He hasn't played all that much in right in his career(I don't think), but he is getting the job done so all is good.

I honestly didn't notice the bad jumps but I might be bias and/or the Nats station didn't cut to it quick enough for me to notice but I'll take all of your words for it since you all seem to have seen it.

Still in all, I'll take that and the effort to get the job done over standing there and letting the ball go by you or walking over to balls or holding onto them instead of throwing them in. Damn Enc angered me the other day with that garbage.

Enc is in a contract year...he doesn't want to hurt his precious self.

His poor jumps made him LOOK a lot better than he was. That diving catch was spectacular, but the other 2 plays were routine ones that a 40 year old getting bad jumps made look great.

With that said, he caught what was hit to him, which is all you can really ask for I suppose. I must say I agree with the Maverick's sentiments on this question overall though.
