June 13, 200521 yr Less tense spots. Move him down a notch in the bullpen pecking order. Sorry Mota, but the team's in too tough a position right now to allow you to work your way through whatever problems you're having during the 8th inning of close games.
June 13, 200521 yr Author So what do you do? He wants and needs the work. Trade him immediately? Use him in less tense spots? Status quo? 807249 Find a way to use him in spots where he can't allow too much damage.
June 13, 200521 yr problem is you've got Jones saved for the 9th, and you don't want to overuse Jim Mecir. So after that, who knows what your gonna get from the rest of the pen?
June 13, 200521 yr problem is I don't know how many innings Mecir can throw, I kind of doubt you can throw him out there too much. And after that, who knows what your gonna get from the rest of the pen.... 807274 Well, Bentz, De Los Santos, and Smith are automatic

June 13, 200521 yr This is the one and only time I will back Mota up. The job of a manager is to "unlock" the talent of his players anyway he can. Jack seems like he has a short fuse and uses critiscm when he reaches the breaking point. I think if Jack called Mota into his office, sat him down and said: "Look buddy, we need you out there. You are an integral part in this team's sucess. You have my faith and support to go out there and get the crucial outs we need you to get. Just pitch the way you can pitch and everything will be fine. You'll get your closer roll. This is where we need you right now" I think Jack has been a little hard on Mota and it's taken a toll on his confidence and his psyche. Jack has been more understaning with Lowell and Pierre who possibly hurt the club more by their recent slumps. Trust me, I hate Mota as much as anyone right now but I have a feeling that if he got the faith and support of his manager everything would be fine.

So after that, who knows what your gonna get from the rest of the pen? 807274 de los santos pitched pretty well in his couple of outings. bentz is pitching pretty well. and reidling is showing signs of improvement over his bad outings in the begining of the season. i also think bump will be back w/ the club later in the season.

I've been fairly impressed with Bentz since I saw him in ST and believe he will be steady. The team has a revolving door approach to Bump, so yes he should make it back to the big leagues in a month or so.
June 13, 200521 yr I think with Smith, Bentz, AA, Bump, Jones, Lietter and they need another big lefty there. Then they could be a pretty good bullpen. They need 1 big strike out guy is all.
June 13, 200521 yr Mota's value is at an all time low right now so I don't see him being traded unless he is disrupting the team off the field. After hearing the rumor I thought that maybe Jack brought him out to pitch yesterday to showcase him off some more, and after giving up that HR maybe the Rangers will have a second opinion on going after him.
June 14, 200521 yr maybe they brought up RHP Ricardo Rodriguez(today starter) to showcase him to the Marlins along with maybe showcasing RHP Juan Dominguez in this series a little more as far as propects NO to Chris Young and YES to LHP John Danks 806577 I guess John Danks can be had... The Rangers are desperate to find a setup man for their bullpen, and while Florida's Guillermo Mota might be a good fit, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram says it might be even better for Texas to deal with Tampa Bay to get Dany Baez and slugger Aubrey Huff, a deal the newspaper said would be worth relinquishing some of the team's top pitching prospects like John Danks or Thomas Diamond.

Now just Mota could get you Danks only
June 14, 200521 yr Sounds like the newspaper/writer's opinion more than sources within the Rangers organization, no?

Or Huff is a monster that can play 5 positions hehe. But, I dont think there is anyone on Texas to trade him for that we need. What do they have that we want? Unless it is a multi team trade
