Maybe come July teams that fall out of contention will try to unload some high priced pitching but RIGHT now Lieter has to be our starter. Going to tbe bullpen will be good for him because relievers have a diferent mentality than starts do. coming out of the pen he can just throw what he wants and not worry about a pitch count or mixing it up. he will be a good left handed reliever for us if we need him. when valdez comes back i think we can use valdez and lieter as good spot starters for our 5th man in the rotation.

The problem that you (rolando) fail to realize is that giving him more time doesnt mean we'll lose every game he pitches, it means theres an equal chance of him improving. and frankly, theres a large possibility that he'll improve. June 14, 200521 yr Uncle Al will be good for the pen. We need a good lefty and he can work on his stuff while in there. Perhaps long relief as well. But, I believe he can do good work and concentrate of giving all of his stuff into 1,2,3 innings only. It might make him better with his arm strength and all.
June 14, 200521 yr Everyone here does understand that he's only there for the road trip, and that we won't need him until the last game in Tampa, when he will be used as the starter? He hasn't been demoted, his spot is being skipped thanks to the two off days on the trip (to Cali and back).

June 14, 200521 yr I really don't think this is a permanent move, it is just being done for 2 weeks because of the way our schedule is set up and the proximity to the All Star Game. However, hopefully the next 3 weeks will give Al some time to go over his mechanics and finally get his location in check. And hopefully we will get to see our 4 other starters win a bunch of important games for us going into the break.
