June 19, 200521 yr Very little can be done to fix all the problems now. 816150 Never underestimate Admin Beinfest. 816257 Hermida would go a long way towards fixing the problems via trade, but he can't and won't be traded...I seriously doubt the imminence of a huge impact trade without players on the Major League roster being involved, and how much can we get for our unwanted headaches (Lowell, Encarnacion)?
June 19, 200521 yr Juan Pierre: 0-5 Mike Lowell: 0-4 Paul Lo Duca: 0-4 Jeff Conine: 0-3 Juan Encarnacion: 0-4 When more than half your entire lineup goes a combined 0-20, you lost ballgames.? Period. Fire Bill Robinson 816080 exactly man dont blame the bullpen hell only a few clubs can hold 2 run leads 816096 man.. in the game thread today you were saying the bullpen sucks
June 19, 200521 yr I have to wonder if at least part of the problem is the advance scouting of the teams we are about to face (especially their pitching) and whether players are appropriately prepared to face them.

Fire Bill Robinson 816080 Bottom line, JP is killing us. He job is the get the offense going, and he has not got the job done so far this year. He needs to be moved to the back end of the lineup until he gets it going. 816084 I said it in the game thread and still think that's what you have to do. Luis has been red-hot lately...let him lead off and set the table, so Cabs and Carlos will be up with men on more often, and drop JP in the order until he can get his stroke back. As much as you don't want to over-tinker with the lineup, you can't send JP out there to go 0-5 every day.
June 19, 200521 yr good idea, that'll get men on base and hopefully the big bats will come through, and i was wondering, does the pitcher have to be the 9th batter?
June 19, 200521 yr good idea, that'll get men on base and hopefully the big bats will come through, and i was wondering, does the pitcher have to be the 9th batter? 816350 Do you honestly not know the answer to this question?
June 19, 200521 yr No, it's the front office's mistake that it's not as good as the Nats. Now we're stuck with Perisho, Riedling and Mecir's contracts while guys like Bump are sent down to open up roster spots and guys like Miadich and Messenger aren't given a chance. The offense is just magnifying the successes and faults of the rest of the team. The starting pitcher, bullpen and their defense (not to mention Jack and his coaches's substitutions and strategies) can't allow more than 1 or 2 runs to score and win. Today they weren't allowed to let a single run score. A run here or there and we're at the top of the standings. 816125 Did you know that Miadich's contract was sold to the Tokyo (I think) Giants? I heard it the other night when I was listening to the Isotopes game. 816165 Miadich headed to Japan The Isotopes lost their closer on Thursday when the Tokyo Giants purchased the contract of J.B. Miadich from the Marlins. Miadich made 29 appearances and went 3-2 with 11 saves and compiled a 2.20 ERA with the 'Topes. In 32.2 innings pitched, Miadich gave up 23 hits, 10 runs (8 earned), allowed 2 homers, walked 20 batters and struck out 59 batters. From the Isotopes fan site http://www.nmia.com/~roberts/baseball/
June 19, 200521 yr I was wondering why the hell Messenger had been closing games for the 'Topes lately.
June 19, 200521 yr we need a bridge mota aint cuttin it, mecir isn't pitching well, and everyone else is a laughable choice right now if mota can come around, reidling pitches like he's capable of, and mecir picks it up to a level he's normally at... This bullpen is really nowhere near bad
June 19, 200521 yr We were lucky to be in this game. The Angels had 2 runs on 14 hits and 17 base runners. This game could have been a disaster if the Angels had some better timely hitting. We had a chance to steal this game and didn't. Very similar to last year.
June 19, 200521 yr You can't expect the bullpen to protect a 1 or 2 run lead EVERY time if it had been a 3+ run lead I'd be up in arms too but it wasn't. I blame this loss squarely on the offense and noone else.
June 19, 200521 yr dont move luis. He has been red hot so leave him alone and let him be hot! He gets moved then he goes cold too. Seriously, that was a good hot pitcher yesterday. It is gonna happen and i do believe we need bullpen help and one more HR hitting bat. We are tied for the lowest amount of homeruns in the league 55.
June 19, 200521 yr the angels pitched a great game yesterday, it wasnt suprising that we only got a run last night , but we had many oppertuniies to pruduce more insurance runs bu we diddnt get it done. And then vlad pretty much won the game by himself. we should be 2-0 in this series so far, but it just isnt working for us down the dtretch, hopefully we can win today

June 19, 200521 yr why in god's name would they ditch this guy??? sounds like he was our best performing minor league reliver. especially right now, with our current crop of relivers not exactly pitching the lights out... eh??? :shrugs
June 19, 200521 yr Money problems more desperate than we think? 816789 lol, that was my first thought too... gotta pay those signing bonuses we just gave to all those kids.
June 19, 200521 yr The reason we lost was because our offense sucked. But we still could have won if McKeon didnt do a dumb thing and pull Willis for Mecir. Also, the reason we lost in extras is because their bullpen is superior to ours.
