June 29, 200521 yr What is the best MLB team organization at the moment? From supporting personel, scouting, minor league system, Front Office decisions, GMs, Coaches, etc.? I think it is the Braves and nothing else come close
June 29, 200521 yr The Twins are pretty underrated. However, the Braves are probably still the king of being the best run organization from top to bottom. They don't really have a kink as an organization at any level. The Cards are a good organization at the major league level, but their minor leagues have been festering pieces of goo for years. Except for Prince Albert. Only recently have they been trying to fix that problem.
June 29, 200521 yr How about the worst? Tampa Bay, then Cincinnati... Cincinnati fans deserves better but the ownership to the gm level are twits with no clue how to evaluate talent, especially pitching...Milton anyone?
June 29, 200521 yr Best: Braves with honorable mention to Twins Worst: Tampa Bay, with dishonorable mention to Pittsburgh
June 29, 200521 yr Im sorry, I dont see how TB is the worst. We are headed in the right direction and going through the transition of an ownership change. Our minors are stacked from top to bottom and weve basically signed our incoming draft with the exception of a few. Now, since 1998, they have made many bonehead moves, and could be considered the worst if you account pre-2002 moves. But as far as right now, Id take the Rays organization(as far as talent wise) over Colorado, KC, Pittsburgh, San Fran, Cinci, and hell, even Detroit. None of those teams mentioned have the talent we do. Colorado is BY FAR the owrst. They literally might never have a chance of winning due to their stadium.

June 29, 200521 yr Reading comprehension wasnt your strongest point in high school huh? Never did I say they were great. I said they are not last in terms of talent within the organization. And I could(or many other TB fans for that matter) could give a s*** what Lou thinks. Hes horrible when it comes to managing young teams. Hed rather start Reggie Taylor over Gathright or Gomes and Alex Gonzalez over Nick Green. Hes cut out for a veteran team, but not for us. Hell be gone once Sternberg takes over, IMO.
June 29, 200521 yr Tampa Bay is the worst now. Stadium blows, marketing blows, public relations blows, the owner doesn't spend any money, and the GM has no clue. Yes, they have some talent in the farm system, but that don't mean squat if it isn't utilized correctly and fans don't show up. And it's hilarious you would take the TB organization over Detroit and Pittsburgh. And why do you care about the Rays so much aren't you a "FIUMarlinFan"?
June 29, 200521 yr Jesus. Reading isint a strong point on Marlinsbaseball huh. TALENT WISE, they are not the worst. Naimoli and his system is a disgrace, plain and simple. Theres light at the end of the tunnel with a new owner, but that wont happen untill this offseason at the earliest. Would Detroit and Pitt beat us more often than not on the field today? Hell yes. But the talent in the system is too hard to pass up IMO. I have no idea in what direction Pitt is headed, and I personally like our minors better than yours, except for Verlander. I cant like my two state baseball teams? My loyalty is to the Marlins first, but TB is my second favorite team. Big deal, my parents own property near there, so im in the area a few times in the summer. I catch them on tv 40 times a year, so im attached. Whats the big deal? Tampa Bay What? :-)
June 29, 200521 yr Talent wise I would say it was a tossup between Colorado and TB. Maybe Colorado, but Tampa Bay is damn close. I just am sick of hearing about this good young talent in the TB system. Where the hell is it? It has seemed to be in the minors for like 3 or 4 years now. Delmon is awesome, but IMO why is there so much ass-kissing of defensive liabilities like Upton and Gaithright? The Rays minors may be a little stronger right now, but I'm liking the future of the Tigers. Plus, a lot of the future talent is already in the big leagues with Detroit, unlike Tampa Bay where there is this mythical talent that has never really made the jump yet. Again, you can have as much talent as you want, but if you can't utilize it properly it's worthless. The reason I ask about your name is the large numbers of people who have a Marlins screen name then root for other teams, i.e. User: "Pudge-Beckett" who is a Cardinals fan.
June 29, 200521 yr Delmon, Upton,CC,Rocco,Niemann,Hammell,Cantu,Orvella,Kazmir,Mcclung,Townsend,Bankston,Huff,Dukes,Chris Mason, Nick Green(sort of) Cash(defensively) Gathright and Johnny Gomes. This is a top 10 system, rated by everyone. Your definetly underrrating the talent we have. Why arent they up you say? We dont have a prospect older than Gomes, whos 24, and is in the bigs already. Theres no sense in rushing them and getting their arby clock running when they should polish up in AAA. We BLOW colorado(and various other teams) talent out of the water. Hell the sporting news ran a story on it. Ill link it later, gotta get back to work now. :-(
June 29, 200521 yr You dont become a great orgnanization based on talent in the minors. TB is terrible in almost every facet of a baseball organization. THe only thing they have is a well populated feeding grounds for the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers to trade when the players you listed eventually (if ever) become good MLB players...
June 29, 200521 yr Hey FIU, how would you rank Tampa's system compared to the Marlins? I don't know their sytem as well...
June 29, 200521 yr 1. Braves 2. Twins (deduction for being owned by Carl Pohlad, better known as Mr. Burns) 3. Red Sox
June 29, 200521 yr Tampas positional players prospects blow anyones right out of the water, including the fish. Tampa has a solid pitching system with some gems sprinkled through the organization(with alot of depth coming now from the 05 draft to solidify it) But the Marlins pitching is far superior as far as talent and depth, although id take Kazmir and Niemann over any Marlins pitching prospect right now. What an intelligent post that was smith! We love trading away good players in firesales! Truth is, when have we EVER had a firesale? This stupid organization made dumb mistakes early in our existence that cost us later. NOW is when we are finally putting it together. Couple that with the arrival of Stu Sternberg and we can achieve success. The trop serves its purpose, its a nice, cool, fun place to watch a game with good seats. Id rank it better than the Pro, RFK, the metrodome, and the oakland colliseum since they are all football stadiums. Cape would back me up on that one, Ive seen him around raysbaseball.com talkin about the trop. If I were a gm id find the TB job much more attractive than, say, the Royals or Rockies. I dont understand how the Rockies arent the worst, they literally have no chance of contention in that launching pad they call a stadium. The org has alot of potential, our own money generating stadium, one of the largest media markets, and an immense amount of player talent. Now its time to put it together.
June 29, 200521 yr Id put atlants first, then a big gap seperating them ffrom the 2nd team(id pick the sox personally) The Braves have a great coaching staff and and a great administration supported by a deep scouting system. Their talent pool can plug up any hole the big team needs to fill. These valuable players they obtain also help create depth, something very important to have if you want to win 13 in a row. They are just ran like butter, from top to bottom. John Scherholtz sometimes doesnt get the credit he deserves. Hes just like Pat Riley, they do alot with little signings that end up becoming key players. Guys like Julio Franco, Chris Hammond, etc
June 29, 200521 yr St. Louis Cardinals. 830541[/snapback] Agreed, I'd put them a hair ahead of the Braves, followed by the Twins, Red Sox, and Angels for the top 5. And it's not even close for last, D Rays by a country mile, probably then the Pirates and Reds.
