Passed over again on Sunday, the New York Mets' left fielder accepted the snub without complaint. "I will take a first-half start like this for the next five years," Floyd said. "Players with better stats than mine have been left off the All-Star team." Floyd had a 20-game hitting streak in April and is batting .288 with 21 home runs and 53 RBIs. He sat out Sunday against Florida, described by manager Willie Randolph as "a little banged up" after several tumbling catches and frequent collisions with the left-field wall. Floyd has been the cornerstone of the Mets with long home runs and acrobatic defensive plays, often trotting off the Shea Stadium field with fans chanting "MVP! MVP!" Baseball and the NBA are marketed differently. NBA is marketed to the ghetto teenie boppers of America. One reason you see more of the NBA jerseys on the street is because all the rappers and such wear them. Another reason is cost a baseball jersey with a name on the back is gonna set you back $125+ and NBA jersey is what 70-80 bucks. NBA and MLB are different. In the NBA you can market one player because most of the time they make a huge difference on a team. MLB has no choice but to only markets teams as a whole because the fans don't go out to the ballpark to see a guy hitting 40 HRs and yet his team is 20 games under 500. Fans only go out to see an elite player on a bad team when something is on the line (playoffs, record, etc.).

Why isn't he on the extra voting? 839197[/snapback] I would've put Brandon Inge in there 839250[/snapback] As would I...there were just too many good 3Bs this year. 839284[/snapback] First of all, you don't have to take position into account with Inge, because he can play anywhere in the field...hell, since catcher is his natural position, you could put him on the team as a catcher Secondly, there is no way Shea Hillenbrand deserves a spot on the team over Inge...the numbers are about equal, but if you factor in that Tiger Stadium is a major pitchers park as well as Inge being the most versatile player in the game, Inge is easily the more deserving Thirdly, how can you leave off the guy on the host team that's having the best year?
