What are we really expecting from him? At best a fifth starter. Let's see where he is after three or four or five starts. Clearly he still needs to build up arm strength and the only way that will happen is by pitching.
Iowa
He's a 5th starter turned emergency starter .. I don't know what people are expecting out of him? Am I missing something?
strandedx02
We've got better options than Valdez already up with the big club I think...what exactly would his role be?
PBMarlin
We've got better options than Valdez already up with the big club I think...what exactly would his role be? 839085[/snapback] We could look to trade him for another reliever. Starting pitching is at a premium right now.
MarlinsFan253
Wow, that stinks.
marlinsfan75
Even if he stinks, as long as he doesn't give up 3 grand slams (Leiter) between now and Sept I'd be happy. If he throws strikes, that'll be a step up from Leiter. If Olsen isn't in the rotation that is.
mdbw
Screw Valdez! I'm up and on the Moehler bandwagon!
FutureGM
I saw Valdez at the game today.
AJBurnett34
That was his first start, its hard coming back after a couple of months and not get spanked. Give him some few more starts down there, we dont really need him right now.
Accord
Curt Schilling also had a rehab start today and he gave up 5 ER. You guys are blowing this way out of proportion.

Valdez is there to simply "get his work in" and make sure his leg isn't going to snap in half (again). Besides, not like he can be worse than Leiter. TRESOP
When he is ready he will take Resop's spot in the bullpen and then they can send him to AA or AAA to get some work....he needs to throw and get some experience against good hitters....that way he will be ready for next season and truly compete for a job in that bull pen. Young right now and inexperienced....can he do the job most certainly....but needs more work this season
rferry
You're selling Resop short if you think Valdez is a better option for this year
