Second guessing before it happens

I was watching the game on mlb.tv and the Brewer's announcers were beside themselves with the way McKeon was managing and they said they've never seen decisions like that ever in a game. With the all-star game coming up now would be a perfect time to put Jack into retirement. :thumbdown

I won't go into specifics because everyone else did.

This game and the decisions Jack made were beyond odd. Did it cost us the game, I don't know. But I do know these types of moves will cost us games in the future. As I have been saying here since April 12th....Jack must go. He simply is not a good gameday manager, has never used a pen well and these days does not have support in the clubhouse.

Jack has made a lot of bizarre moves with the bullpen, but this one definintely ranks up there with the oddest of the odd.

Yeah, I thought it was a pretty ridiculous move, mind you Ben Sheets has not even a SINGLE base hit this season. I'm thinking Jack assumed the Brewers were going to pinch hit for Sheets, because then I could understand the move but otherwise there is absolutely no explanation for it. Let the kid get out of the inning, especially with one of the worst hitting pitchers coming up!

That move will have far more negative effects on Olsen's psyche than allowing him to throw another 5 or 6 pitches at the most.

Ben Sheets is the hitter at the plate and Jack yanks Olsen

I dont approve

edit: Olsen is at 108 pitches.... if Olsen has anything left, I would have given him the shot

You said it, Olsen was at 108. He wasn't hitting the zone. He could have walked Sheets (for the second time) for all we know... and then you guys would have been blaming Jack for not pulling Olsen!

Didn't need to waste Bump? He faced one batter.

Accord,

I disagree. The kid's psyche would have been damaged more if McKeon lets him pitch to Sheets and he ends up losing the game because of a walk or whatever. It was a similar situation in Tampa when he first pitched. He threw great but was taking out of the game at a time whereby he could get a win but not a loss. Today, it was no decision or a loss if he stayed in.

It also proved that the bull pen could get him out of damage if the situation exists in the future.

Jack's moves kept the game in hand.

None of the reasons we lost yesterday had to do with what Jack or didn't do, it was (the lack of) hitting and defense that cost us this game.

And as for teaching Jack what a double-switch is, he probably done more than some people on this have had bowel movements.
