Conine's Clubhouse

Featured Replies

I went to Niner's new place in the Sheridan Plaza in Hollywood after the game on Sat. Great place! It's a spacious sports bar, with great food and moderate prices. Got to meet Jeff Conine, Todd Jones, Paul LoDuca, Damien Easley, John Riedling and Brian Moehler. Everyone came in with their families and were very accessible. It'll be a great place to catch away playoff games this year.

I'm a Baltimore transplant. I only saw LoDuca and Niner signing, as I think they were the only recognizable people to most. I talked to Todd about his entrance song, as I didn't know what it was. He was really down to earth. He was wearing a Paco taco T-Shirt and Camoflage shorts. I also told Damien and his son were the bathrooms were. I don't know how late they are open.

Why not let them be normal people when out with families. You hound them at food establishments, movie theaters, hotel lobbies and so forth, this is the main reason why players probably do not sign autographs anymore.

Get the autographs at games, signings.

Thats awesome! Hopefully I will be able to go there for my b-day. :thumbup Too bad I dont live closer because I would go more often.

What kind of food do they have on the menu... I remember reading about it awhile ago but I cant find the thread... Thanks

I agree. It's enough to give them a friendly "hello" without interupting them.

On the other hand, proprietor Conine should be available if approached respectfully.

OMG Admin- You're on Google.

I went to Google to search for Conine's Clubhouse Grill and in the first page of results, here we were:

I'd like to check it out as well. I don't seem to be able to find a website for it.

Found this as well:

For the most part you guys are right and I totally agree with you. However, seeing as how the restaurant just opened, I'm willing to bet Niner asked some of the guys to come and eat and sign autographs and chat with the people. It's a great marketing technique to increase the popularity of the place. I bet you on most weekends you will see someone from the Fish there for the soul purpose of helping Conine out. I think in this case they are expecting to be "hounded" but are willing to deal with it for a couple hours to help their buddy out

You're making an assumption at this point.... They could also be there simply as Niner's friends, helping him jumpstart his business. I can't stand watching players hounded for autographs, outside of the park and signings. I'll never forget watching people hound Livan Hernandez at South Beach a few years ago.. The poor guy was trying to have a nice Valentine's Day dinner with his girlfriend. People kept up coming to his table asking him to sign their friggin napkin !!

I plan on coming out to Niner's grill... All the players will get from me is a respectful nod and a hello.

Yea um, too bad they're NOT normal people and they make millions of dollars which is mostly thanks to us, the fans, so i don't think signing an autograph is going to kill them.

Hmm... they're NOT normal people? I guess that explains why A.J Burnett sh**s gold.

Come on man.... You are the reason players don't like to go out in public. They make millions of dollars because they basically sell their bodies to the sport. I agree that athletes make too much damn money, but the fact that they sacrifice themselves for their "job", I guess can justify them making more than a simple Systems Analyst, like me. Should they make more than doctors? No, but they do deserve compensation for all they go through as athletes... In addition, they also have a job that requires them to be in a different city every 3 days. That's rough on not only them, but their families, more importantly.

None of this means they are to be at the fans' beckon call. If they're out having dinner with their family.... Leave them the hell alone. They are still normal people, whether you want to believe that or not...

I never understood the whole autograph thing either. Do autograph seekers feel like they are so below athletes and celebrities, that they need them to touch a piece of paper and have them sign it as evidence??

Price range was about the same as any chain restaurant, I.e. Fridays, Chilli's. Had a great Maryland Crab Cake appetizer. It was by far the most expensive app. around $12 for two cakes. Not too many people bothered anyone for autographs, and no one bothered anyone while they were eating.

Just to add one more thing to my last statement.... I understand those who go to games and get autographs as a hobby... Some people are able to get 15 players in one day, and that's cool...

But to catch these people at a restaurant and have them autograph a napkin?? That's just insane.... The only reason someone would want to do that is for this...

Autograph hound: "Hey, I saw Jeff Conine last night"

Friend: "No, you didn't"

Autogrpah hound: "Yes, I did... See, he signed this napkin"

Friend: "Great"

i don't live in south florida anymore so i don't care much about the topic at hand, however if a bunch of players are eating together, they're kinda asking to be bugged.

i just really wanted to say your sig graphic rules.

Yes, these poor helpless athletes only travel on private jets full of luxury and stay in presidential suites every single night while they're poor family is back at their 10 million dollar mansion  .
