August 7, 200520 yr Jorgy joined the team in Cincy late tonite. Isotopes were on the road in Sacramento.

August 7, 200520 yr Ramp, when is Willy supposed to be back? 892132 September me thinks aka not soon enough
August 7, 200520 yr Jorgy joined the team in Cincy late tonite. Isotopes were on the road in Sacramento. 892131 Go Jorg! 892133 Jorg is a good guy and all but this is move has MEH written all over it we need offense, not another slap hitter

Any way to find out who has cleared waivers/is on waivers at the moment?

Maybe even a Redmond reunion?
August 7, 200520 yr Maybe we could get Ramon Castro back from the Mets lmao. Wow that is a scary thought, but, could it...nah Beinfest wouldn't.
August 7, 200520 yr We just need to keep our head above water until Delgado gets back. 892159 LoDuca's injury is tougher to overcome. With Delgado, we've got Conine as a capable fill-in. There isn't any catching depth in this organization.

August 7, 200520 yr Treanor will give us everything Paulie gave us behind the plate if not better, problem is the bat. Let's hope someone else steps it up cuz 3/4 of our lineup's midsection is currently missing time.
August 7, 200520 yr While it may be true that Ryan Jorgenson "joined" the team in Cincy, so far there haven't been any published reports to confirm it, leading me to believe: A) The Marlins want to review the extent of the injury this morning before making a roster move B) They're fishing around for a more major league-seasoned veteran C) Jorgy was just visiting Cincy to try their chili I was surprised that none of the usual sources has posted news of a replacement, ESPN, Google News, Rotoworld, etc.

Treanor is a good guy, a good athlete and a decent catcher. But, we were spoiled by Mike Redmond.
August 7, 200520 yr TRADE POSSIBLE ''We will be talking to the general manager on what our options are. We already have some things in motion, but nothing's definite,'' said McKeon, who added a trade could be possible. Lo Duca, who is hitting a career-high .307, hopes it doesn't come to that. He sustained a severe strain in the same spot four years ago and missed two weeks, but after conferring with Reds team physician Tim Kremchek -- a noted hamstring specialist who performed groundbreaking surgery on Ken Griffey Jr. -- Lo Duca thinks he could be back by next weekend. ''It's just a strained hamstring right now. I'll know more tomorrow when I wake up,'' Lo Duca said. ``Time will tell. Tomorrow morning is going to be key.'' Lo Duca went down trying to advance on Lowell's second-inning fly ball, which gave the Marlins seven innings to see what the short-term future may hold for their offense. And it wasn't pretty.
August 7, 200520 yr Now is that Jack asking the front office for a veteran through the press or real?
August 7, 200520 yr Now is that Jack asking the front office for a veteran through the press or real? 892267 It has to be for real. McKeon's not usually a guy who politics through the press.
August 7, 200520 yr I'm just going on some very brief research of major league rosters and I don't really see a whole lot. It's easy to suggest a Redmond reunion...but why would Minnesota trade him, they're in contention, you gotta have 2 catchers (LeCroy is no catcher, he's just a fat guy listed there). No one in contention is going to part with a catcher of any kind of value. Maybe Josh Bard from Cleveland, since they have Garko in AAA...but Bard's only hitting .183 this season. Maybe Vance Wilson from Detroit?

Maybe Vance Wilson from Detroit? 892275 Since I threw out the Redmond suggestion, I'll defend it myself: The Twins are 6 out of the wild-card, chasing the hottest team on the planet in the A's, and they're chasing the best team in baseball for the division. While their record is identical to ours, they're chasing two teams who really can't be caught. The Marlins may get desperate and overpay, but I don't think the Twins would be opposed at all to dealing him. I mean, it's not Joe Mauer, it's Mike Redmond. Plus, Red knows the guys, so there won't be a learning curve with the staff.
August 7, 200520 yr Mauer has had issues with his knee in the past and part of the reason they brought Redmond in was so Mauer could pick his brain. Also why they signed him for 2 seasons and not 1. I mean, I guess it's not impossible, but I don't see it as that likely.

I mean, I guess it's not impossible, but I don't see it as that likely. 892286 I know it's a different type of example, but Leiter was signed to mentor Beckett, Burnett and Willis, but that didn't keep him around; it is a business. However, the fact that he is signed for 2 years means (at least to me) that it's less likely that the Marlins would look at him because then we're stuck with 3 catchers again next year.

That way you have flexibility concerning having to carry three catchers, now or in the future.
