The shoulder problem wasn't showing up in his performance, as he had pitched 8 1/3 scoreless innings since the All-Star break. Aug. 8 - 7:52 pm et Randy Messenger - R - FLA Marlins recalled RHP Randy Messenger from Triple-A Albuquerque. Even though he was optioned down yesterday, Messenger traveled with the Marlins to Colorado in case he was needed. He'll be a middle reliever. Aug. 8 - 7:49 pm et CRAP!

August 9, 200521 yr Bad news, but not the worst. He was probably our fourth or fifth most important bullpen arm. He had trouble (physically) pitching that second inning or consecutive days. It means VDLS or some AAA southpaw will have a spot on the roster for the rest of the season.

And he may be the fourth or fifth most important guy in the pen but on the nights he was needed to pitch in the seventh, eight ,or ninth inning, as he did the other day, he the MOST important. Until relievers can pitch every night, night in and night out, your fourth or fifth guy has an extremely important player on your roster.
August 9, 200521 yr I hope Mecir recovers quick. I'm glad that Messenger is on the team for this game just in case we need someone to take one for the team. . . And meant to be or not.....that's typical of the win-loss mentality of this board. Let's just get back home. There we do need to win at least 9 out of the 13 against the weak NL West. Hopefully we'll win 9 or 10 and then we'll see how the board feels in 2 weeks. AJ starts tomorrow.

It will happen. Trust me. This team is going to be pumped upon the return of Delgado, Encarnacion, and Lo Duca.
