AJ Wants To Leave

Featured Replies

I don't hate AJ at all, and I'd love if he could keep playing here.

Would I like him to stay on the team? Sure, there aren't many pitchers in the league who have the stuff he does. However it was pretty apparent that AJ didn't want to stay after this season. He's made no secret of that.

Do I think he's worth $10+ million? For a team that can throw 10 million around, possibly. Not if I'm the Marlins, with their payroll.

I think all the recent stuff is just frustration boiling over. However I don't think it was particularly the best way to go about it. Would you expect to hear any of these recent comments coming from LoDuca? Dontrelle? Delgado?

AJ has every right to go the free agent route, that's his prerogative. And while he was a Marlin he had a lot of fans here. He has NOT been the scapegoat this season. If blame has been put on him, he's way down the list, past Mike Lowell, Al Leiter, and Juan Pierre just for starters.

Most of the AJ backlash is not based on how he's performed, it's because instead of owning up to the problems, and saying "hey we all have to do better and that includes me," it's that he's lashed out at the fans and the coaching staff. The fans are frustrated too at the way the season ended, and AJ pointing fingers just seems like whining to me at this point.

Jon, it's sad that you just don't get it. To bring up the very thought is enough. It says something terrible of your bond to the team that the thought even crossed your mind.

sorry bro if you dont agree with me and your getting upset. im a realist. i dont like the talk going on in the media. i didnt say it would happen but just posed the question. there is nothing wrong with it. dude your about to make me cry for crying out loud with your sad posts. my bond to the team? your the only one having a hissy fit about this. IT WAS A QUESTION NOT AN ACCUSATION OR ASSUMPTION. pfft gimme a break dude. i love the marlins. :thumbdown

FIRE SALE! FIRE SALE! FIRE SALE! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! THERE IS GOING TO BE A FIRE SALE OF THE MARLEENS!!!! AAAHHHHH!! I'm mass producing leaflets now detailing the MARLIN FIRE SALE for distribution!!!

I'm with Rferry on this one though, a firesale is really, REALLY unlikely and is poison for a very fragile and manic depressive fanbase. You know that soothing "white noise, that some fancy radios have? That is what this fanbase needs for a few more years before it grows big and strong and reaches Super Saiyan 2.

but and yes, his last 7 or so starts sucked, he did win 7 starts in a row to help us get into contention as well

just saying, there is two sides thats all

That is true. My main problem is that I feel he is sour grapes now. I appreciate his 7 great games and am not pleased with his recent bad ones, however, the fact that he shoots his mouth off now that he has struggled and starts pointing fingers is idiotic. That is the part that magnifies his struggles more.

The fact is there is a significant chance that as many as ten or eleven players on the 25 man roster could be gone next year, and that turnover, whether it makes sense (from an on-field perspective) or not may very well be characterized by some, inside the media and among baseball fans as a "firesale".

It may not be accurate, it may not be fair, but the odds are you're going to hear it more than once during the off-season.
