September 28, 200520 yr If we keep Lowell Willingham wont make the team out of spring training I believe.

I dont see how one correlates with the other

I think that roster spot comes down to Aguila or Willingham, and right now, Hammer has the edge simply because he can play both corner infield spots, both corner outfield spots and catch. If neither Aguila or Willingham are going to tear the cover off the ball as pinch hitters, you'd have to go with the more versatile of the two.

September 28, 200520 yr Aguila is quick and can play all 3 OF spots well and steal bases, so he in my mind is the more versatile.

Hermida could play center in a pinch, but Pierre's likely back, and he's shown that he really doesn't need a back-up.
September 28, 200520 yr BTW I am still not sold on Willinghams bat being so much better than Aguilas.
September 28, 200520 yr Okay. In my opinion though, your chances of winning are decreased with these guys out of the lineup. Who cares? What's the point of winning meaningless games that will only hurt us in the long run? To quote the great Herman Edwards, "You play... to win... the game! You don't just... play to play! "
September 28, 200520 yr BTW I am still not sold on Willinghams bat being so much better than Aguilas. Willingham has a better eye and can hit pitches that move. That and Willingham has outperformed him at just about every level. Okay. In my opinion though, your chances of winning are decreased with these guys out of the lineup. Who cares? What's the point of winning meaningless games that will only hurt us in the long run? To quote the great Herman Edwards, "You play... to win... the game! You don't just... play to play! " This lineup hasn't lost a game all season. :shifty

September 28, 200520 yr No, it's Iowa. I say the Marlins play Moonlight Graham... And to those who are posting that the Marlins are conceding games by playing the kids and they do not want to win... WHat is there left to win? Marlins are out of it... Win pride? Too late for that, the team slipped up badly after a 1.5 game lead in the WC Respect? WHo else besides us fans respects the team? National media doesn't. Fan base? It's football season in Miami. Besides, AJ scared everyone off with his tirade. So play the kids, let them get a taste...If the Marlins lose more games, move up in the draft next year...
September 28, 200520 yr Am I the only one who actually thinks this lineup can (and is going to) win? :lol
September 28, 200520 yr Author Am I the only one who actually thinks this lineup can (and is going to) win? :lol nope, Im with ya
September 28, 200520 yr With these kids in the line-up, I keep thinking of the end of Starship Troopers... "They'll keep fighting... And they'll win..."
September 29, 200520 yr Would you rather see LoDuca limp, Delgado test his elbow or Encarnacion play as he does when there's nothing for him to play for? Or would you rather see a bunch of guys who will try their hardest not only to win but to earn the respect of you and their coaches? p.s. 7 runs
September 29, 200520 yr Some of these guys are going to be playing regularly next year. We're 80-76 and playing awful. Give the kids a look. And if anyone buys a ticket to see Juan Encarnacion, I feel for them. Give the "kids" a look at AAA, not in a regular season game. It's one of 162 just like any other. If they're gonna play next year, let them play next year. What does that have to do with this year? Or are they conceding the final five games? They are happy with 80-82? I'm not. Do they have anything else to play for? Division or Wild Card? Oh and btw, I don't know if you've noticed but the regulars just finished losing 5 in a row, so letting the kids lose 1 or 2 isn't going to make that much of a difference.
